Question for GP owners who re-mapped

I posted this in LL but thought it would be better posted in GP Technical, appologies...

Guys, picking up on the turbo failures on GP's and wondering about the suspected "batch" issue or is it something else?

To those of you who have re-mapped.

Do you change your oil at shorter intervals than the original Fiat recomendation or stick to that schedule?

If you change the oil more often (say half the interval) did you have a turbo failure?

If you stuck to the recomended schedule did you have a turbo failure?

I am assuming Selenia or equivalent grade / quality oil and filter were used.

Is your driving style "normal", "enthusiastic" or "manic"

Re: Question for GP owners who re-mapped

I am slightly worried about having a remap now it just cant be a bad batch of turbos can it? Seems to me that most people on this forum who have haid a remap have had turbo problems.

TBH I dont think that is the case, thats why I have asked the questions in the Thread as I suspect there are other issues afoot here.

Doesnt inspire total confidence though.

Re: Question for GP owners who re-mapped

Only came across one turbo fault on a GP which was noisy as 3 turbo fins were bent (likely due to foreign object) vehicle was not mapped.

Re: Question for GP owners who re-mapped

had mine mapped at 4,000 miles, now done 54,000 miles, and never had to top the oil up, serviced by fiat every 18,000 miles, absolutley no problems at all.... engine/turbo/clutch/g-box still running like they are new......

Please to hear everythings ok sharkie, have you had it rolling roaded again as I don't remember your torque being that high before, that's phenomenal?!

hey Shopshire_lad , haven't been on for a while , yes been RR'd again.... had a fabia vRS that made only 129bhp at the wheels but 155 at the fly... going on similar losses that would make mine 173bhp at the fly (yes, a VERY reliable and good Angel tuning map wonder if any of the blown turbo's were from angel maps?! mine is fine the only difference between the last RR and the current one was shell V-power.... made an extra 7 bhp at the wheels, and a whopping extra 34 lbs/ft torque.. go fiqure ! lol.... RR figures are always subject to "variation".... we should try to get the country to concentrate on wheel horsepower figures, which are actually what your car is doing to the rollers, not what the "calculation " is inbetween mine is at 147bhp at the wheels, its an '07 plate, garratt turbo, and all is fine and dandy

edit: the graph will be on awsome gti's site soon (when they decide to update! ) the latest briskoda RR day...... mine made the 4th highest torque of the day, bear in mind there were some awome cars like cols mazda 3 mps giving 255bhp at the wheels, standard with 1,000 miles on the clock!
