Hi still looking for options ti lightly tune my gps mjet as a trip to north london is a bit far from Glasgow esp with current fuel costs!

I know most folk on here recommend gsr/red dot and and indeed i agree going by the figures and owners responces but as i said am looking for something a bit closer to home

I'm sure i have heard of Dastek before years ago thro the seata nd skoda forums when i had an Ibiza 130tdi buggered if i can remember if they were any good tho!

So anyone know anyhting about then or used them?

basically they are offering a piggy back for the ecu so a yeah a plug in box if you like but not a generic one rather one mapped to each vehicle on a rr, and as such they say they can tailor a map for any mods present or future as the map can be redone if you add an iduction kit for example.

On the face of it it sounds pretty good the ability to remove the piggy back (or tuning box!) if you want ti to sell or have the car serviced etc yet still getting a custom map done on a rr and the ability to show the benefits. Only downside seems to be cost as its a good bit dearer than the north london option

so just looking for anyones input on dastek then?

cheers

no one heard of them? or know anyone who has used them then?

ok if not any other advice about reputable tuners in and around the glasgow area please?

and are reputed to have the best Dyno in Scotland. But I'm not sure how you can prove that.

Wouldn't go that far lol - Dyno is ok but they don't really have decent cooling - heard a few horror stories about engines letting go on higher powered turbocharged stuff. From what I hear software wise they are pretty good . I would want to make sure that it was a remap I was getting and not just a plug in box to crank up the fuel delivery. In scotland we have a few OCT IPRO tuning dealers and their stuff is pretty good - It's a full remap done through the OBD port and is fully TUV approved. I've had it on a few cars - Really made my Alfa GT Mjet go like the wind :)

IIRC the Alfa was done at Star Performance in Fife but i think there is half a dozen or so OCT Ipro dealers in Scotland - OCT tuning quote quite conservative figures for the GT they quoted 175bhp with the remap but in reality the car made in excess of 190bhp on the rollers. I just liked the product and the fact it was a proper remap and had german TUV approval which must show it's safe and of decent quality....

will look into that cheers

on other note anyone ever heard of a garage on Troon Ayrshire called Auto Veloce Garage?

send an enquiry to Angel (yes i know but was curious as to who the scottish agent was) anyways he has intimated that hes not a mobile tuner but an alfa/fiat specialist who works form his workshops. away on holiday just now but will be in touch when he is back as am curious if this might be an ok option i know there has been some negative shal we say rep[orts about certain tuners but if its done on a rr by a reputable tuner should be better than a roadside shot yeah?

I e-mailed Dastek a couple of weeks ago for information re. tuning my GPS Multijet, I am still waiting for a reply! Keep us posted on your efforts to get a a re-map as i am also keen to get a bit more low down pulling power and, like you, don't want to have to venture over the border.

No actually dastek is their trading name - they are part of the same company that manufacture the rolling roads but in the UK they do mostly tuning the dynos are made in South Africa IIRC.
