hey hey, im gunna paint my brake calipers to morrow (IF its not raining :p)

was just looking for a bit of advice.... is it easier to take them of for painting or spray them whilst on the car???? (covering all the bodywork and arch's from the paint)

if taking them off is easyist - are they simple to take off? i have been told so but i havnt had a look yet.

Cheers

This is been covered quite a few times already.. have you tried searching for "caliper" in the GP sections?

my friends done his! i think he painted with a brush? taking them off sounds like a alot of hassle, im wantin to do mine black! was guna do red but i think thats too popular!

I'd be taking them off if you plan to spray them. You might mask off everything. But one bit of contamination on your discs or pads and before you know it a few pounds for paint turns into a few hundred pounds for new discs and pads etc.

I done mine and simpy used a small artists brush for the small detailed areas and a slightly larger brush to cover the bigger main parts of the caliper.

The finish is just as good as it would be with spraying. Plus you remove the hassle of stripping down and removing calipers etc.

I used Hammerite Smooth (Red) to do mine. It took one coat per caliper and had done all four in about 90mins. Done it in the afternoon and left it overnight to dry. Been 3 months now and not had a problem.

pleeeeeaassseee dont take them off.

its not worth the hassle you will incur lol :)

You can take the caliper off the disc and remove the pads but leave the brake hose attached, just rig up a bent wire from the arch vent to support it while you paint.

:)

thats what i meant, didnt want him to start pulling off brake lines lol

You are right, he doesn't have to take them off.Just paint them carefully with a small brush. That'll do it.
