Hi,...

I was planning to change the smallest lights at the front lights (don't know the english word for them), in LED (white/blue) lights but when i change them the computer says that the lights are broken. (they aren't giving any light either) when i fit one in to the socket it does works and with two they don't!!!

the LED lights are w5w. like the original lights.
anyone who knows the answer to this prob?

you put them in the bulb holder place, and push the bulb in to hold them in place. so you dont need to cut in to any wires at all

Is it confirmed that this works ?
Can someone elaborate more on this how exactly is done?

I want to replace the w5w "running lights" with a pair of Cree LEDs (they look and light really great except for the dash error message, http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-w5w-extreme-power-5w-cree-smd-canbus-led-bulbs-white/) and so far i have also tried :

http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/xtec-obc-bulb-alarm-error-fix-kit-for-501-w5w-t10-5w-leds/

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271036782806?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (someone said they work without error in GP but they dont and also i don't like them at all)

with no success.

I also bought those resistors : http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/10w-resistors-for-led-w5w-501-233-h6w-433c/ but i really don't want to cut and rewire

Will those resistors work with the Cree LEDs if applied as Coyl said? (which i haven't grasped exactly how yet)

In general any feedback - input - developments in the w5w LED replacement subject since the last post here?

Thanks

I tried those ready-made with plugs resistors (http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/xtec-obc-bulb-alarm-error-fix-kit-for-501-w5w-t10-5w-leds/) but they didn't work (maybe because i think they are 5W, the stock w5w lamps are 5W though too ...) :(

And I don't get exactly the method described by Coyle, can someone elaborate on that? and are those "naked" cables 10w resistors i got working with that method? Or i need to get maybe these : http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/LED-Resistor-kit-pair.html ?

And what to do with the heat ? any case the resistor will cause ... fire or melt something in there? (the sockets space under the rubber cap)

I used these without issue on my Bravo for front parking lights and number plate lights.

- What year is your Bravo?
- How you firmed the placement of the new bulb socket (black socket on the resistor you post) on the housing ? The similar (on sockets) resistors i bought apart from still giving dashboard error message, i couldnt figure how to firmly place this black socket with the bulb on it back to where the original 501 socket plugs in.
- Done something specific to deal with the resistor heat?

.

Any of those resistors should work, but will get very hot though, so be warned of that. And what you've linked are for Parking/Possition/Side light, not Daytime Running Lights btw (y)

Thanks! How are called the w5w / 501 bulbs placed together with the H4 ones in the headlight lenses? The message i get in the dashboard is "check Running lights"
