I'm from yorkshire area mate! well midlands but close enough =) I'm 19 my insurance went up by £800 a year which totals near £2k at the moment. That aint bad though, considering the huge increase in bhp and torque. And they cover every mod i get done.

But 21 you'll get cheaper insurance, get a quote from highway insurance or ibuyeco. I only have 1 NCD too so... your probably better off :) It's worth declaring incase you wreck your car! Give us a pm if you wanna meet to show what kinda output it gives. Puts a smile on everyones face i must admit. I do want to get atleast 200brake by the end of next month though!

things like remaps don't tend to get checked when you have a write off, or insurance inspection.
my old saxo had every mod imaginable, and they paid out all the same.

What usally happens if they check the mapping and it is different to what it was they just reset it because they would just think its an error.

by the way.... who is your insurer?

Cheers

I live in worksop near sheffield.

I'm insured by highway insurance. was insured previously by direct line but they wouldn't insure me on any mods! so had to move

And to all the people that say "don't declare modifications" I hope you all get caught because it's fraud and i'd rather be on the safe side than not at all. It's illegal to not declare mods. Learn the law before posting =p

ah kool, iv been doign some work out sheffield way latly, its not far from me.

as regaurds to the insurence.... i tryed that insurer.... did you have to phone up and declair the mods? the reason i am asking is because it says on there site as follows ....

"
  • Your vehicle has not been modified in anyway, does not exceed 8 seats and has the designed number of seats.
  • The vehicle is not a registered Q plate and is not an import from Japan.
  • You are the owner and the registered keeper of the vehicle and it will be kept at your home address.
  • You and all the proposed drivers have a full or provisional driving licence.
  • You and all the proposed drivers do not have a disability or medical condition which may affect your/their driving.
  • You and all the proposed drivers have not been convicted of any non-motoring convictions e.g. theft, dishonesty or fraud within the last 5 years.
  • You and all the proposed drivers have never been refused insurance or had special terms imposed on previous insurance policies.
  • You (and all the proposed drivers) have been continually resident in the UK for the past three years.
  • You have or will make appropriate enquiry of all relevant matters before answering the following questions.
- the top one been the major downfall....

Cheers

Can't you get in touch with some insurance company that has common sense?

There is some of them. Stop watching TV. All you see there is rubbish. Go and search before I come with the broom stick.

Thats a bit harsh, posting that kind of comment on a forum that has many cars modified could upset a few people ! Be bitter at your insurance company not fellow fiat enthusiasts !

"you can take a horse to water but you cant make it drink"#

we can all go on about declaring mods and how its right to do so, but some people will always take the risk, even though we've told them

But there seem to be so many younger drivers on the forum that think its the thing to do and they will get away with it and the punto and GP section have many of them..personally I wouldnt drive a car knowingly that I have not reported modified and did so on the stilo 100%..so if you want to modify your car whether it be an induction kit and map or just a set of alloy wheel its requested by law that you do so ..only a numpty would do so..

Drive safe and drive legal you know you want to..(y)
