Re: Milage flashing with a vengence AGAIN!

My fault is a bit different to what you have.. .
My dials and guages have never failed and i have never had any warning lights on
All i get is the milage flashing when first started, if i then turn the car off and restart the milage does not flash anymore.. .

deff sounds voltage related, get tech to check software version of convergence unit aswell as starting problem.

Re: Milage flashing with a vengence AGAIN!

How ever after going to Le mans 24 hours and leaving it parked in a field for 5 days, the milage started flashing again :( Back to the dealers it went and once again they are struggling to diagnose whats wrong. How ever this time when starting up from cold it can sometimes struggle slightly and turn over a few times before finally kicking into life

Cheers Bob

could it be something as simple as a flat/partially discharged battery/ dirty earth contact T?

Re: Milage flashing with a vengence AGAIN!

Well had my car at the dealer today and surprise surprise they plugged in examiner and could not find any logged faults and the problem did not rear its ugly head on their road testing.
I spoke to the tech and have agreed to bring it straight in when I next experience it leave it running so they can see the fault for themselves and run some tests.

Hey everybody.

I had the mileage flashing problem after stalling my car quite badly on a steep incline while in traffic. However, i also lost all my blue and me operations. They replaced the blue and me unit and did a update of some kind and hey presto, it dissappeared. Cant see it being a serious problem, my car was in four days for this work and two days of that was due to having to get a technician direct from Fiat to change the blue and me language from Italian to English!

Just wondered if you had come across any problems with the steering rack (Grande Punto Sporting Multijet)? Ive got a serious knocking from the engine bay drivers side. Seems to be a horizontal knocking that occurs when releasing off accelarator or coasting under diesel engine pull or in traffic/low speeds. Already checked the engine mounts myself and no problems there, tried wobbling other various components and theres no obvious answer????

Any light on the sitaution would be much appreciated.

Regards

Ash

P.S Getting a new set of alloys from Fiat tommorrow under warranty, if you have any oxidisation of any kind take it in and get them changed!

New update:
Flashing mileage was back again this morning :bang:

Luckily I didn't have to be at work too early today so I took a trip to the dealer so they could see the fault first hand (kept the engine running).

No faults found on examiner so it's to go back for more thorough testing next week and possible referred onto Fiat for more help.

Update:
The dealer have run more tests and replaced the battery (I guess the line of thought is the battery wasn't giving sufficient power at start up and tripping the electrics).
Here's hoping that'll fix the flashing mileage problem cos I'm sure the dealer must be sick of the sight of my car!
