Technical Creaking--FOUND IT

hey hey ! TY VERY MUCH for telling me wher this creeking was coming from!.... been doing my head in for months.... i was thinking for AGES that it was coming from the rear suspention!

cheers -

p.s. car wen t in for its first survice t day told em about the creeking and there changing the whole claping plate, lock etc etc under warrentee and also the rusting wheel nuts....

is it because nearest dealer is across the outback kinda thing...hundreds of miles away? (honest question, not being sarcastic)

No, closest is about 10 minute drive, next closest about 20.

Its not about the distance - its just not something they do here.

jeez 10mins away......i'd take the car to customer myself if it kept them happy after all isn't that what its all about?

Do others (toyota/ford etc) garages collect/deliver cars or is this just a Aussie thing?

You would think so wouldn't you? ;)

I don't know about others, though I wouldn't think its a common practice.

Just thought i would add an update since this has been dragged to the top of the board again;) Since i adjusted the striker i have had no more creaking, job done(y)

mine creaks to and like you said before it sounds like its coming from the rear end of the car, i will try your theory this weekend and hopefuly it works as im sick of it now and hate dealers messing around with my car so ideally want to do it myself

I have been searching for the dreaded creaking for nearly 2 months now, and its the DOOR LOCKS. How do i know well If you close and lock the doors then push down on the top edge of the door with one hand and gently lift by the door handle with the other hand you replicate the door movement as when the body flexes over bumps etc. You can hear the creaking noise coming from the striker/lock area. Spray the door seals first to eliminate them though. Now ive found it just got to sort it RING RING HELLO MR DEALER TYPE PERSON. (y)

Tried it this weekend and so far the creaking has disappeared so hopefully it wont come back again. What a god send you are lol as never really wanted it going to my dealer...... Thanks again for this thread it was very much helpful!!!

My Sporting did this ages ago and the Dealer taped striker plate , stopped it dead. Then a few months ago the bugger started again sounded like the door was dropping off, made arrangements to get it sorted and the sod stopped, never done it since!
Moral - if it aint broke dont fix it:)

BTW off topic I know , but the GP is still the best, smoothest looking supermini, don't ya think?(y)
