Hi just picked up my GP Sporting multijet so far seems ok working out the small faults etc.

went to put some derv in and realised it doesn't have a locking fuel cap?

is this the norm?

with crazy fuel prices is this not abit daft?

what the cp or the cover flap?

my cover doesn't lock and the cap is type that you normally find under locking flaps eg no lock and tethered onto the filler neck

My GP Multijet has a locking cap, bought it 4 weeks ago. This is my second GP Multijet, bought first one in April 2006, was a pile of **** (another story)and did not have a locking fuel cap. Finding it hard to get used to this one having a locking cap. Anyway, it is my understanding that more recent models do come with the locking cap.
PS. Good luck with the faults list. I cannot believe how badly these Fiat cars are put together. Had my second one for four weeks and daily I find another we niggling fault. Have to say that a lot of them were dealer caused problems due to very poor PDI and valeting.

what should it be then?

everything looks original the car is an aug 06 model was this standard on the early cars maybe?

or something not right with my car?

what locks the actual cap or the flap on the bodywork?

ah ok cheers for that guys

so the earlier cars didn't have locking caps cheapskates gits!

ah well take fiat can relive me of ,ots of cash for a locking cap then!

can fiat supply a locking cap that will work with my existing key? be a bit of a farce having a nice flip key and then another for the fuel cap!

Something isnt right i`m sure they should have locking caps, my 1.3 GP MJ does.

I would check with your dealer and get them to replace it with a locking cap for sure..

Good luck (y)

Why on earth did you buy another one then??

If August 2006 I doubt if it would have come with a locking cap.

Mine was built mid 2006 and it has a locking cap..

Mine was registered Sep 2006 and didn't have a locking fuel cap. I bought one from Fiat 3 months later when I discovered it.... like you say, cheapskates!

yeah on the upside at least they honour their warranty! lol

ok so how much did a locking cap from fiat do you for then?

and did it come with a seperate key or were they able to match it to your existing key?

the lockin fuel cap is a joke
i screwed mine in, locked it, and then you can just pull it straight out!!!

i cant believe something could be manufactured so badly, it doesnt fit properly into the hole lol.

anyway, told my dad about it, and he managed to fix it, by trimming it down to size!

now the cap actually locks shut!

mmm am fast failing out of love with my little fiat anyone got posatives about them lol

and getting kinda embarresing now as the mrs has started ripping the pish as her big bus (sorry mondeo) can carry 3 times as much accelerate as quick, has a better top end, corners as quick (or better) and gets better mpg!

ah well at least it looks better!

ps. oh yeah everything works and it has a locking fuel cap and costs less to service! see why we aint talking now! lmao
