Yup. Not even had the car a year and I do love everything APART from the weedy 1.2.

I would like something like Ibiza TDi  Or a Diesel MG ZR (I'm going to get shot here aren't I)

Basically, I'd LOVE the 1.9 MJ but I can't afford one so I'm looking at these two cheaper options. Convince me otherwise..:p

Im going to get a 1.9 Sporting next year tbh, just save your money for 1 :)

It is a lovely car, my friend has the Collezione Special Edition (1 of 500 bizarrely) in Black but it is an old car now and lacks some of the new features you expect on a new car. His cost way more than mine but is a weedy 1.6, mine has Bluetooth, MP3, Hill start thingy and other bits as standard. I would either get a GP when you can afford it or wait for the MiTo.

Thing is they depreciate so much your car is probably worth about 5.5k atm and next year it will be about 4.5k.

So at best a 1.9 Sporting is gonna be 11k so you will need to shell out 6.5k next year thats if you get a nice discount (2.5k) plus that part exhange value for your car, which doesn't normally happen with dealers anymore.

Yea i know depreaciation is a bitch but o well thats life unfortunaly and why would a 57 plate GPS cost 11k in 09?

Oh I thought you meant you would save up and trade in your 1.2 for a new GPS MJet. They are about 11k now with a discount, best price I've seen was 10,750 with special paint. So I assumed they would still be around 11k on a 09 plate next year, if it gets any cheaper than that, its just getting stupid :p

Still, quality motor for 11k!

Oh lol let you off then :p nah i wouldnt get a 09 plate due to the fact that i will be able to get a nice GPS ona 57 or even 08 plate next year with alot of extras widout having to pay out for them (y)

MG is built far worse than a Fiat and the Ibiza is far too expensive for what you get.

If the Grande Punto sooty is what you want, isn't it worth spending that little bit more for. If you keep the car for 3 years and it costs say £1K more than the Ibiza which will either be older or lower spec. It will work out at costing less than a penny a day for the car you wanted in the first place.

Remember you can get a oil burning Sporting thats around 2 years old now and you can get them from a little over £7K out a dealer. Where as for the same money the Ibiza (I'm not even gonna talk about the MG.) at best a year older lower spec and slower.

But at the end of the day it's your money, you know what you want.

I Wish my GP was as badly built as the MG/Rovers i have had.

Aaw do you miss panel gaps you can fit fingers in, or the gear nob coming off in your hand whenever you change into third. Or the russian roulette of whether opening the window will result in the electric window switch vanishing into the cars innards? OR that wait in a garage waiting to see is the SRS light that is on the dash is only lit up because of a loose connection like has happened the last ten times?

If your GP was a badly built as one of the MG abortions then I'm very sorry but you must have a super lemon.

Don't do it!!

IMO you would be wasting your money buying either of those cars. MG = Unreliable, pooor build quality, Seat = Over priced.

The Mjet is fantastic value for money all round, running costs, reliabilty, cost of ownership, insurance grp 6 and with all the features the car has = the best car i have ever owned and i really don't think you will get better value elsewhere.

Save, save, save till you can afford an Mjet
