Re: Blown Turbo

Hi Guys - thought I would give an update, after 4 weeks waiting for the car to be fixed I finally got it back. All fixed with a bill for 1500 from the garage (luckily all under warranty).

Before this there were a few small problems I had with the car and the garage always sorted it all out for me (we all know of the small problems everyone has had with the car - this never bothered me), however the Turbo blowing really has made me lose confidence in the car :-(

A really big shame since I love the look of the car and how it drives. To answer the question by a couple of you I did have the car chipped in February by Angel Tuning, so I would like to have the opinion from others on this site.

Did the turbo go because of the chip, or was it just really bad luck?
Any advice or views from anyone out there would be great :-)

I think I am right in saying Angel would have done an ECU re-map rather than a re-chip. There has been some considerable debate, both informed and less so on the Re-mapping debate concerning how it is done etc, with the main players being Celtic, Angel and GSR. I am due a re-map in September with GSR as I feel confident they will do what is best for my motor to give me some benefits.

Re: Blown Turbo

Sorry - I did mean a ECU re-map not an actual re-chip of the ECU.

Well my engine is now running far too lean but I think thats more to do with my Post cat Lambda / CAT rather than the remap I've swapped them to see how it goes .

I also think its quite shocking that Fiat have to foot the bill for someones inadequate ECU tuning . All this means Fiat have to put prices up.

Alright ffoxy, I haven't been on here much as i've been VERY busy with work etc.

I haven't heard anything bad about the GSR maps, but its still early days!

I can tell you itching for it

GSR do a map for each individual car, not a map for lets say a 1.9 Mjet, but imagine several different bespoke maps for a 1.9 Mjet that takes each different engine's characteristics into consideration...

With that in mind it becomes easier to see why your question has no real answer...

Re: Blown Turbo

got ya. so basically an angel map is a basic map for the 1.9 engine and as everyone knows every engine is different. a gsr map is specific for that engine, is that right?
