Hello all,
With my windows open in the gorgeous weather today I heard a noise coming from my front nearside wheel. Upon getting the wheel off I discovered that a wire in it's plastic sheathing has been snapped (by some foreign object I'm guessing) and one part of it was resting against the spokes of my alloy as it went round producing the noise.
The wire seems to end up in the brake pad. Am I correct in thinking this senses brake pad wear and is there any problem in me crimping some bullet connectors on the broken wire and reconnecting it back up? My only concern is I'll have no way to test if the repair is sound.
I've attached a photo - red arrows are the ends of the broken wire, yellow arrow is where it ends up and goes into the brake pad.
Cheers,
Ben
