Right, now I know i'm about to get loads of comments saying things like how different the Abarth is to a normal GPS etc etc and how stupid this idea is lol :bang:...but I was just wondering...

...Does anyone else think that it would be possible to fit the Abarth Essesse Kit (if that's how its spelt) to a standard 1.4 16v Sporting or a T-Jet.

Now I know it sounds huuuuugely stupid! But I was thinking, The Abarth is still a grande punto so the fittings are the same, and the engine is the same engine as both the standard sporting and the t-jet just with a bigger turbo (or a turbo in the 1st place!)

The Essesse kit would give you the bigger brakes, a turbo, lower suspension etc etc and the beauty is its all made by fiat officially so they can't moan too much about warrenty stuff...I know its also expensive and not exactly viable...was just curious on peoples thoughts...technically I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible?! (y):idea:

Would be the same insurance?! Unless you don't tell them, put on a turbo, full kit smash it up and loose out on the £10,000 you've spent to make it an "SS"

oi! I resent that remark!

Well, because its a modified car you can get modified car insurance which can work out cheaper than normal insurance...or I could just not tell them and then its my loss when I crash...Wouldn't be any different to having a huge increase in power from a remap other than its blatantly obvious its been tuned lol.

Unfortunately it isn't as easy as it sounds.
Yeah as with all things it never is :( I was just curious if it was possible though...like without serious modification...just wondered how similar the two cars were internally etc

A guy over on Stilosport.com is in the process of turning a white T-Jet into an Abarth replica, looks pretty good so far!, also means many of the parts are available in the UK.

Where from?

It would only be cheaper for insurance if you don't declare it.
This would be illegal and you would have no insurance even though you were paying for it.

I wasn't saying i was going to do it lol...was just curious about the hole thing in general, some people would rather spend the money doing it themselves because its a project :D

It is Nick's girlfriends car. Nick is parts manager of Glyn Hopkin. The Abarth looks is not the problem. Getting it to work from the electronics side is.

We will eventually get there but not as some people imagine. It is not just a swap over business.

Anyway performancestilo.co.uk is the better site.;)

yeah nick also a member here too, the abarth lookalike would have been on our stand at brooklands but he busy so cant come now
its got more power than fiats own version would have been good to see it go up the hill

:cry::cry::cry::cry:
but
:worship::worship::worship::worship:to the legend who did that!!

I wasn't really after the abarth looks cos altho i think it looks stunning i wouldn't want to make my car portray something its not...I was just wondering about the performance side! I'm just abit gutted we can't remap the 1.4 16v GPS yet that's all

why not fiat do :p

there plenty of other stuff you can do untill they have cracked the mapping;)

Yeah I guess there is...i'm not very imaginative though...I like mods that I can do myself and remove if I have to...or that can't be seen...I'm into my stealth you see (y)

Any ideas then please feel free to let me know!

It would be far easier to fit it all to a T-jet as it'll already have the forged crank/pistons, lowered compression, turbo manifold/oil feeds/drains/cooling system, etc. Still not cheap though.

Converting a standard 1.4 16v will be much more expensive.

And it won't be covered under the standard warranty as you're modding a vehicle that the kit wasn't specifically designed for. ;)
