Does anyone know what exactly is undereneath this long thin panel of mystery. I can almost see as mine is sticking up loosely near my drivers side front quarter window.

I think it could probably be bashed back in to place but because of the shape of the windscreen I can't get a good swing at it.

Has anyone any suggestions other than removing the windscreen which would just be plain stupid obviously!

Thanks

air vent is underneath it...its a demister vent trim;)

not read the stickies have you;

Fault - Dashboard top vent trim - the long trim which directs air
the long trim which directs air to windscreen can distort and
stick up at drivers side
Cure - fitment of new trim.
Status - very few reports these days

My car is reaching the end of it's 2nd year's warranty. Does this still cover interior trim? This has been like this forever but I haven't bother reporting it cos I hate dealer hassle

Can't see why it wouldn't; one dealer said if problems were found during the warranty period and yet it hasn't been fully resolved within that period, then it should still be covered (provided everything has been documented).

Yes it is hassle actually. I'm busy on Thursday!

"ok sir well would it help if we picked up/delivered the car for you"?

"mmmmm but that way I wont get a free coffee":(

"leave a thermos in the car sir & we will fill it for you":)

Oh come on, you know that never happens in real life

not with my dealer no, LOL.
Last time i went i got some crap about having to check all warranty work with HQ. It took 3 weeks for them even to book it in. TBF i got it all fixed and it was a great job in the end.

PS, do you think we see the negative side of things on this forum??? Ppl only post when there is a problem. If everyone who was having no problems posted the traffic would be 100,000x greater!! Maybe i will post every day to say "everything is ok today" (only kidding LOL)

There wouldn't be much of a forum if no one had a problem..

need to find better garages then guys;)

I've already tried 4 out of 12 dealers within the state I live in - that ain't a bad effort on my part. And bear in mind most of the other 8 are in whoop-whoop regional areas.

Well out of the 12 dealers in my state, 4 are regional, 2 semi-metro and 6 metro. I've been to 1 regional, 1 semi-metro and 2 metros.

Well I rang the dealer and here is a brief summary of what was said: (I also have squeeky rear brakes but will refrain from mentioning it here)

"What type of car + how old is it?"
"Grande Punto just over 2 years 20,000 miles"
"Well you see erm 3rd year warranty doesn't cover interior trim and erm well ah dunno we'll maybe speak to FIAT but don't think we can"
"Really? Even though this is a known issue?"
"Erm umm well we better have a look at it. If it's not a warranty issue we'll have to charge you for labour"
"OK see you Friday"

NOW THAT'S DEALER HASSLE

I have had four of the dash trims, twice before i bought the car, and twice since i have owned it.

I took the car back again to dealer, they told me there are another ten people who have had this problem.

They told me i am on some sort of list, they have contacted fiat UK to get a solution.

My question is, how long do i wait before i pester them.....

Thanks..

if it happens again after a new one is fitted then surely a 'modification' is required. I have never had one return.....then again maybe it did happen again but they couldn't be bothered bringing it back:chin:

Yeh, the dealer fitted two new ones when they had it, i bought it pre-reg. I didnt know untill some guy at Fiat dealer told me...

Then ive had two more, i had it booked in other week. I got there and they told me they couldnt do anything. It looks terrible, sits up about an inch now. Before i good press it old the other ones, this one i think maybe stronger and donest flex/bend when i press it... so not sure what to do now..
