when I was giving my car it's second coat of wax yesterday I noticed an area on top of the tailgate at the left had side near the back about half the size of a 5p where the clearcoat has just come off to leave an indented dull patch of paint.

I'm going to take this back under warranty as I don't see how anything I've used or done could have caused this.

I always use a lambswool mitt to wash so as not to scratch and mf to buff off. Only other thing I've put on are a coat of UDS polish and a coat of HD Wax.

Really hacked off now after all the other problems I've had. Looks like they're gonna have to do a blow in along the whole top panel of the tailgate.

Better make a good job of it.

I'm in a good mind to ask for compensation from Fiat as this will make my fourth and fifth visits to the garage to have things fixed at my cost of time and petrol.

Second coat of wax...WTF...mine's lucky if it get one! hahaha Why would you wax your car twice...you need to get out more!! ;)

I do get out:D Wash and a coat of wax only takes a couple of hours on Sunday morning and keeps the car looking mint.

Want to get 4 coats on, what with Fiat paint being so soft makes sense to have a good layer of protection on.

Plus the water just runs off the car now makes washing a breeze:D

You should have brought a white one...paints quite tough and easy to touch up. :)

I have used Farecla products on previous cars with bad swirl marks you've mentioned in another post, might be worth having a look at them for a cheap, quick fix. Worked well on a black car I had.

Saving up to get a proper machine correction done by a pro to get all the swirls out. Will also need to get stone chips attended to at some point.

I'll have a look the farecla stuff are they for cutting or filling?

Just really annoyed at having to go back to dealer again. Still I'm sure they will just as annoyed at having me back again, I'm on first name terms with the receptionist and the service manager now.:D

Fourth will be to inspect the paint. I doubt they'll fix it there and then so I'll have to make a fifth visit presumably to a body shop.

If its TJ Vickers they won't do it there and then, they'll get you to book it in for the following week. Also they won't blow over the whole panel they will only do the problem area. Thats what happened to me when i had a big dirty paint run on my rear arch. (n)

I don't know who did it exactly but the old chap is the bodyshop guy. They removed the pain run but had little marks in it still, so told them i weren't accepting the car. They ran the buffer over the area and they came out. Other than that it was a decent job can't even tell.
