You noticed the turbo lag then? That is the 3 second delay before the car takes off! Maximum torque (pulling power) is at 1750rpm so for a quick getaway you should change up to keep the engine revs around 1750 - 2500 while accelerating. The car does just under 70mph at 2000 rpm in 6th so there is never any need to rev it to excess.
You will almost certainly never achieve 70mpg. Mine indicated 64mpg for a while on a long journey but it typically returned 58. The computer can display average and instantaneous mpg. If the car has been sitting around with the engine running then the average figure will probably be low. If you want economy then it is necessary to stick to the high gears, keeping the engine speed between 1200 and 2000rpm (not when accelerating or else it will go nowhere!).
I think the 90BHP 6 speed is the only Dynamic to be fitted with the Multifunction LCD display - but I might be wrong!
