Technical Duologic problem.....again

Technical Duologic problem.....again

do the update applicable to certain range of VIN. it seems that my GP feels heavier after the replace the duologic. have to press the accelerator more than before.

That sounds like my GP before the software update, it was really heavy and changed gears too fast which slowed the car down drastically, maybe they need to install the software once again on your GP

I feel this vibration started after they actually updated my software which was 2-3 months after I bought the car

In addition to the judder, I also notice it takes a bit of time for the gear to change from 2nd to 3rd and sometimes I have to hold the acceleration at 2500rpm for maybe 1 minute or so for the gear to change to 3rd, this mainly happens when the E mode is switched off.

Is this normal?

The E mode is good when you drive on a highway but the moment you end up at a hill, the gear does not down shift which results in me having to knock the gears down manually in order to get more power when going up hill

The Dealer told me that I need to flow the accelerator so that it changes gears automatically but I don't seem to have the handg of doing that

In addition to the judder

Forget about the juddering man - it can't be fixed!

(Would love to be proved wrong though!)

I am takig the car to the dealer today, lets see what he does with the gear issue, I delayed to go as this problem was not prominant over the last couple of weeks but came up in a mild way a few days back.

Evere since they did some adjustment using the examiner, the car is not very fuel economical and does only around 7km per litre now where as it used to do 8.5-9km per litre in the past, when I told this to Fiat they claim adjusting the clutch cannot affect the fuel economy but they will have a look anyways, hope somthing works out as I did use a 2000cc Nissan Xtrail which gave me 7Km per litre and this being a 1400cc should be better

I took the car to the dealer and got them to remove their previous adjustment or software as it was killing the fuel economy but I feel increased the judder a bit more than usual, The fuel Economy has been restored to it's original glory and the dealer was amazed that this update actually made the fuel economy worse as it happened to be a new software developed to improve the efficiency of the engine but in my case it was the other way around

The update i had removed improved the judder but it didnt quite go away 100%, am wondering if this problem would go away if the magnetic cluth is replaced

The car is now at the dealers and they took the gear box apart and claim they cannot see anything wrong with the clutch and pressure plate but claim that if the entire kit consisting of the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing is replaced, the problem should definitely go away, but the joke is that they claim the gearbox is not covered under the warranty as they are ware and tare parts hence if these parts are replaced it will be at my cost.

I told them to go fly a kite and even though they are ware and tare parts it is not my fault that these parts are defective and the car is just under 10,000km and also under one year and told them to explain to me as to what exactly the so called 2 year warranty cover if its not the engine and gear box!

They got into a bit of a fix and claimed they will sort the matter out through the good will warranty

These guys are crazy

These Morons claim the clutch is excluded from the warranty as it is a wear and tear part, they gave me a copy of the warranty agreement between the dealer and Fiat, and below is an extract for your information. This is not given to any customer usually

Quote
It is stated that the Warranty does not cover the defects caused by routine adjustments or normal servicing items made necessary by fair wear and tear; in particular it does not provide for the replacement of the following components unless they are proved to be faulty.

Driving Belts
Pre-heater/Spark Plugs
Injectors
Brake Disk and pads
Brake drums and shoes
Exhaust trailing
Shock Absorbers
Filters
Fuses and Lamps
Wiper Arms front and rear
Clutch
Tyres except whereas the wear results from negligence on the part of Fiat

The warranty ceases to be valid if the fault has not been reported within 60 days from occurrence
Unquote

In my case there are no signs of wear nd tear on the clutch pressure plate and release bearing so the only assumption is there could be a manufacturing defect on the clutch plates or release cable as now after the entire kit was replaced, there is no judder so far

Now need to prove that the previous plates are faulty as indicated in the agreement as who has heard of a clutch plate or pressure plate wearing out at 9600km and the car is still under one year

the first thing to do is contact Fiat UK directly and explain the issue. You should make it very clear to them and to the dealer that -
  • The clutch cannot be excluded from the warranty where a Dualogic gearbox is fitted, as the user has no control over how and when the clutch is engaged, unlike the situation with a manual box.
  • As the system is automated, failure at such low mileage should be treated in the same way as the rest of the drivetrain components.

Yes I am ins Sri Lanka

I have just written to Fiat Italy advising them that the Dealer here completely ignored the terms of the Warranty, The Service Manager told me they cannot see any signs of wear an tear and concluded that the part may have a manufacturing defect as sometimes if the tension on the springs are weak this kind of judder does crop up or it also happens if the clutch or pressure plate is warped.

The Dealer tried to modify the clutch and fix it back so they could experiment on a trail and error but I said nothing doing

Since the entire clutch kit which consisted of the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing were all replaced, we will never know what exactly caused the judder

So far he is running fine and I hope it stays that way:p

Hi john

You are right, the user has no control over a sealed part unlike the manual gear box where they could have blamed me for actually keeping my foot on the clutch pedal. I have written to the Fiat headquarters in Italy informing them of this matter

Lets see what they say

From what others have said you would need a miracle for Fiat HQ to respond to any sort of complaint.. but good luck and do let us know how you go ;)

I have written to Fiat Headquarters before as I had endless problems with my previous Uno and they did respond, I have written to the CEO himself lets see what will happen
