I'm thinking of painting the calipers on my GPS red, but by me doing this will it void my warranty for the brakes. Has anyone else already done this, if so have you got any pictures?

I have not been told specifically that it does not void your warranty on them but i cant see how it would and ive got mine done and its booked in to have some work done on the brakes now so im guessing they would have said something otherwise.

Here is a pic btw.

Ok then, well my car is booked in for next week to have the brakes done, so i will more than likely do them after that. What did you use to do them? Hamerite?

People recommend the stuff from halfords, bout £20-25 per bottle though.

hi

i was looking at this and evey one seems to say G2 if you going to do it your self. You can eather spray or paint it on. The web site is G2usa.com

hope this helps :)

i did mine today. I used halfords stuff. I also bought a halfords 1.5tonne bottle jack to do it with, it worked great and only cost a tenner. I still need to the the back 2 brakes, thats for tomorrow though.

I have used the halfords stuff before but found it to be very sticky and it took 24 hours to dry i think. How long did yours take tommy? Also is hammerite smooth heat resistant?

A few people have painted their calipers with hammerite and had no problems with heat. If you're under a car you shouldn't be relying on the jack - get a set of axle stands.

They're cheaper than 24x7 medical care when a car drops on you and puts you in a care home.

Search.... GIVE ME AN R

So how do I get the car onto axle stands in the first place then? Paul daniels magic kit??

What did you use to clean the caliper before painting it?

Clutch and brake cleaner for all the crap, a wire brush drill bit for the really bad crap.

i used alloy wheel cleaner and a wire brush to clean the brakes, halfords were all out of the specialist break cleaner. I didnt use axle stands, just used a bottle jack from halfords and did one wheel at a time, it took about 2 hours per wheel with drying times and then leave the whole car for 24 hours before driving!

24 hours  i think you only have to wait 2 hours with hammerite
