Exclamation Blow Off Valve on T-Jet...

hey guys...
has anyone fitted a blow off valve on a G.P. T-jet?and if yes, which one and with what configurations...here in greece noone has yet fitted one and noone knows either which one would fit without any drops in performance...also,does anyone know if taking it to FIAT for installation won't eliminate my warranty?cause i've been told that if it's fitted by FIAT mechanics then i 'll not loose my warranty...
cheers...

FIAT (I take it you mean a dealer? fiat dont touch the cars once they leave the factory... ) would not install it as it aint OEM or approved aftermarket kit.

You do not NEED a dump valve on that engine. if its just the noise your after get an induction kit and you will hear the OEM recirc valve anyway which will sound the same.

Re: Blow Off Valve on T-Jet...

by induction kit you mean a panel filter like K&N that it's fitted inside the air filter box?

No I mean like the BMC CDA, K&N Typhoon, and the ones from GSR.

Re: Blow Off Valve on T-Jet...

do you really have tested those in the T-Jet???here no one has fitted one yet...does it really work on a car with no remap???i thought that you would loose the overboost...!!!only thing i have fitted is the end of the exhaust(i don't know what is called)you know...not the whole exhaust from front to back...just the back box...i now have a Jebring which makes a really nice noise...would these work with just this?

You mean back box ?. You do not need a remap to use an induction kit its optional. You need an induction kit to get the best gains out of the remap as it lets the turbo breathe easier. I know it will sound like I say because its just logic. When you release the throttle and there is positive boost it goes through the recirc valve back through your induction route.

Fitting an induction kit takes away the muffling effect the OEM airbox has and you can hear it a lot more. You can even hear it with the OEM airbox if you open your window slightly. Even the dirty JTD oil burners get this noise with an induction kit.

Why would you loose over boost by fitting an induction kit?.... The overboost actuator / valve is before the induction system and will remain unaffected no matter what you do to your induction system.
Thanks 1steamon1 thanked for this post

Re: Blow Off Valve on T-Jet...

ChrisUk your totally right about the sound coming back through the air filter.

I had a GSR induction kit fitted to my T-Jet at Red Dot the other week and now the car sounds just as if its got a dump valve on it.

Like I said if you read my post. You WILL NOT loose your overboost its controlled by a separate valve / solenoid which has nothing to do with the induction kit. If anything it will make it better as there will be more airflow .

The GSR induction kit costs £199 delivered for your car I believe. Don't mistake this for any other K&N style induction kit, this is custom designed to give the best gains on your engine (each kit is different for different engines).

In reply to Beevz, the overboost is a temporary 'surge' of power by putting extra boost through the turbo and getting extra power. The ECU normally does this when it meets certain situations like going to overtake. With a lot of people this goes unnoticed .

Well that all depends on if you want decent parts on your car. You can't expect something for nothing.

Or you could do it cheap and buy a crap induction kit, and lose power. Up to you though.

well you started of asking about a dump valve that will give you no power gain or perfomance benefits on the road (as the T-Jet like most modern turbo's has a type of one fitted as std) FYI a good quality forged dump valve will cost £100 upwards new in the UK.

And you've ended up with a genuine suggestion on how to actually increase your performance and not waste your money. Induction kits can increase performance on virtually any car and the better proven and made they are then the more they cost, I supose against the cost of a universal ebay kit it does look pricey but then they are not custom designed for your car and guarenteed to increase performance.

I supose it depends how much you value performance i don't know how much BHP the kit gives on the T-jet i guess around 10bhp so for €270 at current xrates is €27 per bhp. quite good value if you compare that to the number of BHP you got for the price of your car
