hi,
i just got my reverse camera display purchase over internet. i need to do some simple test to confirm the unit is in working order because i only got 7 days to return the product in case of any defect. i cannot install now as i haven got my reverse camera unit ( its on the way also purchase over internet.)

my questions are
1. i have to connect the wire to the reverse light. is that +12v or -12v from the car
2. i also have to connect to ACC (MAR). is that +12v or -12v

if i know this i can just do simple test at home. i not intend to cut wires at the car yet in case the unit is defective and i have to abandon my work.

thanks for help

i would have thought both would be 12+ive

i know ignition is definatly 12v+ive

dont hack into your ignition wiring how about taking it off the live supply for the fag lighter as that is swiched on and off by the ignition,

you can find the reversing lamp wires by removing the boot card (large torx bolt) then unclip after removing rubber boot seal..

they go through the floor and behind the bumper IMMSMC there is also the fog lamp supply and no plate lights so pick the correct wire :D

yea.. i agree with you not to tap from the ignition, luckily GP have two cigarete light connection (with one at the back) which i will use them both for the camera and the display. as safety precaution as both can take up to 18W

i have search the web, definitly the reverse wire is +12v (for other cars), hopefully its the same with our GP.

anyway any clue on the color of the reverse wire.

i just wondering after doing this do i need to upgrade my battery? somewhere in the forum mention our battery is just at limit, anything above will make our GP goes hairwire

I wouldn't worry the battery as its only going to work when you are reversing (so the engine will be running..)

As for the colour of the reversing lamp wire lay under the back of the car and remove the bulb and holder and peel the tape back there are 2 wires live and neg use a multimeter to work out which is which. then tap into it inside the boot liner that way your connection will stay dry... (y)

I dont have one in the back???

Its only on certain spec levels although ive got one on my active :p

Some spec levels have the wiring in place already and you can just buy the socket from the dealer for about £10 i put a wire feed direct to the battery on mine via a fuse so its constantly live so i can charge my mobile up for example even with the car turned off..
