am having both doors repaired and sprayed next week at £300 after being hit by doors in car parks

are the fiat rubber stripes any good for protection or are thet too thin

are there better ones

are they easy to fit

thanks

Tom

I put them on mine fiat do 2 types a thin rubber type In the lineaccessory (spl) book or the Original factory fit ones which are hollow molded plastic and stand out quite a bit.. Sods law dictates that what ever you do the car door that hits it will be bigger or shaped differently:mad: but its worth a try

I have the factory fit on mine, I bought my car used with them on, If they haddnt already been on id have specified them, they are invaluble as car park dents are all too common today! cars are getting bigger and spaces arnt!

Gives me summat to use the bumper care on too

On sat I'm picking up a black GPS with the side rubbing strips - I guess since the strips are black that makes them 'almost' colour coded. Hope they look ok on a black car as I've not seen that combo in real life :(

Ok, I'm all for car protection an all that bo**ocks, however, the position and depth of the rubbing strips have me wondering something, please correct me if I'm wrong.

If for example you had 2 GP's parked next to each other and one opened it's door into the other (obv this would never happen with 2 GP's as we are to proud of our cars to go knocking them about) due to the curvature of the door it would appear, to me at least, that the rubbing strip would offer no protection at all as the door would strike above it. If this is the case, the only thing the strip is doing is runing the side of the car. The main reason i have chosen both of my cars has been because neither has had a rubbing strip, colour coded or not....they look awful :yuck:

This is dead right, 9/10 they offer no protection due to the fact that the car is wider above the strips. I didnt request them on mine but it came with them. After waiting months i decided to just take it with them and i actually like the look of it with them now. Also makes it appear slightly lower.

In my experience the factory fitted side strips are crap. Like previous post, they are too low down the car to be of any use, I often use my hand to protect other cars when I getting out in a car park.

Could prove painful on a windy day :p

They won't look as noticable but would will still be able to see the difference between the gloss black of the car and the matt black of the rubbing strips.

Sure is nice to find something we agree on!!! lol... ;)

Think I might have clocked you earlier in the week...saw an Orange GPS coming out of Denso?

The car looked the dogs anyway whoever it was...(y)

lol it might have been me what time was it? there are 2 other orange GP's at Denso, but mine is the 57 plate lol i'd say about 50% of the cars at my works are GP's, due to the fact we get a nice 20% discount :p (y)
