Has anyone had a "Check Running Lights" warning on thier GP accompanied by a yellow warning triangular display light?

Had this twice this morning despite my checking of all lights which are working fine.

Any advice welcomed from those in the know :)

This one is peculiar!
With the engine running, stationary or driving and lights on, I get the warning when I put the brakes on, suspect brake light failure. (y)
With the lights off, I get no warning, driving or stationary, odd? (n)
With just the ignition on, lights on or off, I dont get the warning, even odder! (n) (n)
Brake lights are working fine either way!

Wots up ere then FIAT fans?

All I can think is one of your brake lights is faulty.

I looked at the rear lights the other day and it seems there are 4 rear light bulbs, and two of these contain filaments for the brake light as well. Might be worth replacing the two brake lights to see if that works.

Thanks for the notes guys, I was thinking this was gonna fox the lot of you on here, the brake lights seem fine without removing them for a check but hey its a bulb... may be some oxidisation in the lampholders or a dodgy earth somewhere playing silly bu**ers.

T, the hi - level light is fine too... its a wierdo one this, probably be a simple reason in the end, but as it stands I still got the P.I.T.A. warning! Too dark to investigate when I get home, too busy at work in the day, so at the weekend I will look more deeply.

I had the same problem recently it was the litle dimensional clear bulb in the headlights. It is tiny and very hard to see whether if it is working when the headlights are on.

No bulb changes T, not yet anyhow.

Not sure what the "dimensional" bulb is... sidelight maybe? Both sidelights are fine I checked with the headlights off.

I am at a loss... maybe I need Mr Dealer to looksee.

I appologise I meant sidelights.I'm not a native english speaker. As I said in my case the sidelights were gone and the same message was displayed. If the headlight and sidelights are OK the it should be something on the back maybe the middle stop light. If that doesnt help open the manual there is a table there of all the lights in the car and what bulbs they work with and just check them one by one

Thanks egundoko, your English is excellent :)

I am going to look for resistive connections in the brake light circuit I think, even check bulb resistance as I cant see any faults in illumination, then I guess it will be on to the earth points.

I will post back if and when I fix it! :D

Absolutely! There is a 12v 5Watt bulb in the centre of the rear clusters, these are "running lights", and come on with the sidelights, not the brake lights. Both bulbs had gone, there is no warning with just 1 bulb gone.

There are 2 screws holding the light clusters in, the clusters need to be gently but firmly pulled directly rearwards to relaease the pip locators, no internal dismantling is required but there are 2 further screws that need to come out to get at the bulbs, ensure the rubber / silicone seal is refitted correctly when reassembling. 2 bulbs cost me two pounds UK. Odd why BOTH bulbs went at the same time....

Yes but why did I only get the warning when I braked?

'Cause that is the moment the electric current is run through the bulb. Apparently, the system "found" broken "wire" i.e. the bulb volfram wire, so it warned you 'bout that.

And for those of you who are not mad scientists, Wolfram = Tungsten!

I got this message twice and found that my parking bulbs were burnt out on two occasions

This has been really helpful. I have recently had EXACTLY the same problem. The warning would only flash up when I had either my side lights or my full lights on & the it was only displayed when I was breaking.
I've checked all my lights. All seem to be working (all sidelights, headlights, brake lights etc). Could someone please clarify what it is that needs replacing for me?

Where are you able to find 2 12v 5 watt bulbs?
I have got the same problem on my punto! (n)
