Technical Glove box catch, new Thread, old Subject!

Well there you go! I praise my GPS and love it to bits and she gets spiteful, and I cant get my glovebox open cos the catch has finally busted.

Old problem I know, done to death on here, I just wondered if the FIAT peeps on here can tell me :-

My dealer says the catches are in short supply (modified ones) and coming in dribs and drabs from Italy... am I getting a story or is that true? First comment from them was "it might be weeks"....

I am in Telford, dealer usually quite good TJVickers, is there a dealer in Stafford who might be relied on to have this Known about part?

why don't you try the dealer in wolverhampton or next one is oldbury, there the only ones that i know of.

There is Bostons at Stafford, small place. Might ring them see what their stock situ is like. Vickers want my car for half a day to see which lock it is... durrrr.... aint they all the same on the GP's? Then the lock will / may have to be ordered.... who knows how long that will take, I did explain that it is a Known Issue with the cars but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Glovebox is shut and wont open, I dont wana force it, but my company ID badge and office access cards are inside lol!

oh right well if they do ahve it for half a day, look on the bright side you get a courtesy car to rag for half a day, just like i did the other week and like i will be for 2 days in december. lol

From day one my glove box never shut properly. Then about a week after picking it up, my dad got in for the first time....and pulled the glove box handle off. Locking mechanism is abit fiddly but if you have a look and fiddle for abit its easy to open and shut with a little leaver. 3 months on this technique is working a dream And the dealers i got mine from was bought by ford last month lol

TJVickers very capably sorted this for me guys.
Let me clarify, the Glovebox would never close properly from day 1, but I thought that was normal from the posts on here, it did close so no big deal, just a bit wonky! Then, Tuesday I opened it, got what I wanted and closed it, the catch felt odd, and then it went all over the gaff when I tried to re-open it. No chance after that, but TJVickers fixed it in an hour after I dropped the car off... Well Impressed, new catch / latch / door.
