I'm thinking of buying a new Grande Punto Multijet 1.3 75.

Does anyone know whether the Blaukpunt player that comes with the vehicle is able to play MP3 CDs?

Thanks in advance.

Actually I don't know if mine's a Blaupunkt, but most if not all the CDs I play are burnt MP3s, so should be ok.

Realistically burnt CDs are just like any other CDs so shouldn't make much of a difference. Quality-wise would be a different issue :)

Hate to drag up an old thread, but I think what the OP meant was if a Data CD Burnt with MP3s straight onto the disc will play, ie: A CD full of MP3 files, not audio files.

Is the player MP3 compatible?

Depends on the model. If its an MP3 cd with loads of different albums on it, mine which is on Elegenza does not, it will only do MP3 through the USB drive. According to the brochure.... Active sport, Dynamic sport, and sporting all will be able to cd with folders in a MP3 format. The other models wont. All the stereos are made by Blaunkpunt I believe.

I can confirm that I just tried to put in a couple of different branded CD's that had MP3's stored on them. The Blaunkpunt CD player displayed "ERROR" and spat the CD back out.

This is in a GP 1.9 Emotion JTD

Hey Pips,

I don't think any of the Australian equipped GP's get the head units with MP3 support. From what I have seen and heard on the net, the units that do have MP3 support will say MP3 on the facia.

Fair enough.

I have bought myself an FM transmitter thingy for my wife's MP3 player anyway. Will see how that goes, as I particularly don't have an iPod, so I just want something with USB connectivity and can interface through the stereo.

I really wish the GP came with a USB or Line in input.

There is an iPod Interface listed on the GP Accessories brochure which is available from Fiat Australia website

http://www.fiatcars.com.au

I don't know any details about it, other than it says iPod Interface and it has a number (part no?) 50901536 underneath. Might be worth asking the dealer about?

That's the thing. I don't have an iPod, and I assume the iPod adaptor kit uses the proprietary iPod plug. I'm just after a USB jack so I can plug in my non-iPod mp3 player.

The best thing would be find out what sort of connector it is. It could just be an stereo jack/rca aux interface like that in my Pug. The dealer kept referring to that as an iPod interface as well.

I have PUNTO 1.3 Emotion, Th eplayer is MP3 Player you can easily play MP3 Cd s

I have an 08 Active and it won't play MP3s burnt as data on the CD. You can pickup some good cables for connecting MP3 players via 3.5mm jack or ipod via dock connectors on ebay. Have a look for Hi-Fi links ebay store, I have had a couple of cables from there.
