CSMA alone used to be £18. However, it now seems to be free. certainly, if you're in Britannia Rescue they waive this fee but still send you the CSMA mags. My Standard Britannia Rescue this year (roadside assistance and/or recovery as necessary and onward journey to destination of choice, but not home start) is £79 this year. That covers me and the missus as named drivers with personal cover for any vehicle we are driving (handy for us as we also drive a couple of lab rescue vans) + my son's car as a specified vehicle. So basically that covers 2 people in any vehicle + a specified vehicle. So with the personal cover we don't need to specify our own car. They also do different combinations of cover including home start of course. See https://www.csma.uk.com/

Mike do you mean 20% of the price of a new mk2 punto in your previous post? I find this hard to understand because there isn't even half that profit available to garage

I remember my dad was entitled to a huge discount (35%) on Rovers through his work because work paid for percentage of it....never took it up though cause they crap:)

Yup! I got the Active Sport 16 Valve for a mere £7500 in 2004. CSMA have negotiated huge discounts (in some cases 25%) off Citroens. Insurance used to be cheaper through Frizell but I don't think that is the case now. I actually left the Civil service in 1979, have insured my cars in previous years with Frizell but have only taken advantage of this CSMA new car discount recently.

After reading this thread I joined CSMA. May come in useful in the future It is now free for civil servants.:)

Just joined, however, it states on website:
"Organisations that are not eligible for membership include NHS, Police, Teachers and Local Government"
Seems to exclude most public service workers. But I managed to join and I am a nurse with NHS! I only noticed this after joining.

Re: 3 Questions.....

3rd question, my engine mounts seem very very soft indeed, even dipping the clutch to change gear can make a horrible bang, let alone letting the clutch out again, going backwards is a horribly juddery affair and I think broke, never experienced anything like it in any modern car.

Hi there. I am GPS 1.4 16V owner and have the very same problem. Reversing uphill (even a mild slope) at low speeds, makes the car shiver as if the engine wanted to escape the car. I need to use a plenty of throttle to do (relatively) decent uphill reverse, yet the judder is there at clutch release always. I don't even need to use throttle on other cars for the same reverse. For steeper uphills, reversing requires so much throttle, that the clutch smells aftewards.

Any suggestions or known solutions? Thanks.
