Picked up my new T-JET GPS last tuesday and whilst cleaning it on sunday i noticed a run in the paint on the near side rear arch. took it to my dealer first thing on monday and they took some photos to send to FIAT, they have assured me it will be done next week. so all is good, is this a common thing with Fiat paint?

Noticed a couple of specks of crap in the paint on mine too, not enough to complain about as most modern cars have some minor imperfections. Some of the brand new cars I looked at looked like they'd been sprayed by a monkey!

Still waiting for T J Vickers to contact me about my dodgy dash which they took snaps of a couple of weeks ago so it can be repaired. Be on to them again next week if I've heard nothing! So much for the PDI!

Had a dash problem too, got a nice big scrape across the top like it had been rubbed against somehing before fitted. Also waiting to see if can be repaired or complete new dash needed. Luckily paint work ok. Hope you get it sorted quickly.

T-jet,noticed you mentioned on another thread you can't see the oil level due to it been clear. I'm struggling too and done 1500miles, cant measure thelevel. You managed to check it accurately yet?

Thanks mate.... I need a new dash apparently (according the salesman at local dealership), the facia around the central vents has a split about an inch long, was pissed when I noticed it only an hour after picking it up.

Overall though, still pretty pleased with everything else, just hope it gets repaired as new as it sounds like a big job.

like said it is hardly noticable but now i know its there, so its going to have to be done.

think you have me mixed up with someone else on the forum.

Sorry to hear that mate, hope it gets sorted soon, TJV's have been ok with me so far, only visited twice since I bought my GPS from them.

I called this mournin to see if they have booked me in yet, they said that they are waiting on a new compressor and it should be here today or tomorrow. don't know if thats just an excuse or not.

Sounds plausible, but would they only have 1 suitable compressor I wonder?

I know you will check closely before you take it away, look out for clumsy over-spray.

Someone here once said the equipment is nastily expensive (+ licensing etc), so it wouldn't be surprising if it was out of action..

i'm sure they will do a good job, but i will be checking, checking and checking it before i leave. (y)

A replacement dash is a MAJOR job. I'd suggest that you INSIST of T J Vickers Service Manager that when they refit the dash they use strips of sticky foam between all plastic components. Otherwise (on past personal experience) you may be driven mad by squeaks & rattles for years to come!;).

Josh

thats exactly my worry if they need to change the dash but there are already a couple of rattles, one like a screw rolling round that needs sorting in the door and its only 3 weeks old. I'd take some cash instead of replacing the dash but know they wouldn't do that. I have the scrape and a small hole in the hard foam stuff the little punto 'P' badge is stuck on.

bloody hell where did you get your GP from sounds like your having loads of problems

I didnt expect there to be no problems, never know any brand of new car not to have them. only problem is the scratchs on the dash and lose thing in door, should be pretty simple to sort and Forward autos in st helens been good so far.

I'm worried now....Don't want them f***ing my car up!

I think like nebrog if I could get some cash out of them for the inconvenience I probably would and then see if any repair specialists could mend the damage. The thought of some "grease monkey" pulling my dash to bits is serious cause for concern.

don't understand your post there, are you saying that you would rather fiat give you money rather than them repairing it

then you go on to say that you would want someone else to fix it, would have thought that fiat were the best to repair seen as they made the car, i think i'd rather fiat fix it thanks least they know what they are doing.

I was thinking of the repair specialists that do less invasive "invisible" repairs to plastic and upholstery.

I'm just scared the dash will be put it back together poorly and like others have said it will creak and rattle forever more! :(

Going to have to put my faith in the local dealership and hope for the best. Still haven't heard anything yet and it's been nearly 3 weeks...

well its covered under warranty so if it does rattle and creak take it back and keep takin it back until its sorted

Hmmm...It's a hassle I could do without especially after owning a new ****roen...

I was in and out the dealers 8 times in 18 months for various faults. The reason I fired it off was due the awful problems I had, don't want to be going down the same road again!

BTW have you had your paintwork sorted yet?
