I was at Awsome GTI in manchester today , to have the car on the rollers, (I went with the Briskoda club... I used to own a fabia vRS)

it's mapped by angel tuning, they did a good, efficient job, car felt a world better after the map, but the power is down on what I expected.....

the RR was good and acurate, most of the standard fabia vRS's gave 140bhp (which the PD130 does tend to give) one SE had a standard figure of 155bhp!!
the remapped furby's gave between 160-180 bhp , depending on the map and other mods, a civic diesel (quoted by Honda at 140bhp) gave 138.5bhp completely standard with only 3,000 miles on it, so I figure the RR was acurate...

my figures were 157.56bhp and 279.52lbs/ft...

heres the graph, quite pleased with it as it gives a constant 150bhp ish for most of the useful rev range, so very constant power....

BUT I still expected 170bhp.... got the p|ss taked by my brisky mates, some of who's fabia's came close to that power WITHOUT a map!

here's the graph.....

if Nige from Angel reads this, I'd like a comment... if he can find himself near me in the lakes one day and wants to pop by to check averythings OK , I'd appreciate it!

car runs perfect, feels fast, and is great fun to drive........

still a bit miffed with the figures though!

Never mind Sharky good stong Torque but still a little low on the quoted 170BHP, how do the firms that come out to your house check that the Mods made actually do represent the mods advertised, has a car had the re-map done and fine tuned on the dyno and then a copy of map been made and copied onto other cars, makes you wonder if its worth it maybe better to book in for R/R and have Re-map done at same time and get an idea of before and after may be total wrong though Alan.

true... I could get CC done tuned on the rollers, then it would be optimised well, but we'd be talking £400-500, and the angel map (with the group buy) was £250..... so just depends on what you're willing to spend I suppose....

yeah, the torque curve is good, higher and held longer than a furby that made 170bhp on the rollers.... he only made about 260lbs/ft, and that was a spike at 2k, and it dropped off more than mine.... (the power wasn't held at 170 for as long as mine was held at 150 too, so dunno how that would translate to a bit of fun on an airfield) but the furby's weak link when mapping is the clutch, so some tuners try to keep the torque down.....

I very happy with the perfomance, but not to get 170 bhp, still miffed me :(

thanks for the encoraging words anyway, had to take the insults on the chin in the garage! lol.....

Did you say group buy so does that mean there is some other owners that had the same map as you, how many more have poor results too, My brother spoke to Celtic Tuning about his TD4 Rand Lover and they were on about tailoring the Torque curve so the Gearbox stays in one piece, wonder if it was possible to move Torque further up the rev-range on GPS to allow car to get moving before it all goes ballistic, lets hope that goes to plan. Alan.

see PM.......

BHP increase not too clever but torque fiqure is very good good...28 bhp and 60 torques is very good for 300 quid though ! as long as you say it goes as good as a remapped furby then im happy......?

I had Terry Squires SEADI(Total Star), there is also now Courtney Cox who does this area the old fella i think you are on about finished last year.

i have the tunit digital box on my car they said would give out roughly 170 bhp it also can be tweaked via a laptop by a tech to vary the torque through the rev range, but you mention the vw being of higher bhp standard?my mother just got a vw golf gt sport 2.0tdi 170 bhp i had a good half hour drive in it.it was faster than my gp quite a bit.so who cant tell really what bhp figures remaps and tunit boxs really shove, and before anyone says it the tunit box aint cheap or nasty state of the art as far as they go:)

this is true.....

I was gobsmaked that a fabia vRS SE (number 300 and something) made 155 bhp , with no mods other than a PD160 intake (bigger airbox)

however (dieseldave) mine held a higher power (150bhp ish) over most of the usable rev range than a fabia that had a peak of 170, and it also had higher torque (fabia was 260) for longer too... so even though the peak figures wern't there, the graph was still good, may equate to being quite even on the road...... I drove a remapped fabia too, and someone else (with a vRS) drove mine..... the conclusion was they were very similar in real world "go"......

(y)

STILL I would have liked 170 bhp ;)

as its been said on all threads concerning remap/tuning boxs claiming great power increases and torque,170bhp 190 bhp it has dawned on me which i think is the most important point how much faster is a remapped gp than a standard 130 bhp gp.i would like to see that for real just to see the difference?large or small what you think????:D

It's a big difference......

when I first got in the GPS from the fabia vRS (which I ran for 80k) , I thought... wow, this is so much slower than the vRS (granted the GPS wasn't run n at that point) ...then, after the remap, it was a case of, wow, this is now quicker than my old vRS.......

I do about 1,000 miles a week, and it was really noticable.... (y)

read this thread with interest buddy... the torque is quite good, certainly alot better to have more torque than bhp... your engine will be under alot less stress if it is only taking 157bhp to produce that amount of torque... i don't think your gearbox will feel the same way though! lol... when i test drove the fabia vrs i was amazed that it seemed to pull all through the rev range right up until something like 6k just as hard and i felt the GP was pretty limited with when the power lasted until, although the fab didn't really feel any quicker if that makes sense... would be interesting to see what angel tuning have to say on the matter... especially seeing as most remaps will be sold purely on the bhp figure and not the torque...

the general feeling over on the RS meggy forums is that if it feels better, useable and manageable then don't worry too much about the figures... also that the Dyno Dynamics RR's are the best most accurate ones, although you were group tested, i.e. all on the same roller, so if yours is wrong (not enough bhp,) then so will all the vrs's etc etc.

mmm, most of the mapped fabias made 160-170bhp, so it was pretty close....

as I said my map had more useable power for more of the rev range than a fabia that made 170bhp, so I'm not that worried,

and yes, the torque figures rock! made more than a golf R32! and I agree with you , that its torque that will kill a gearbox, and clutch, but to be honest my car gets driven gently for 99% of the time, 20,000 miles so far, and clutch g/box ect still feel like new, so I'm not overly worried... alot depends on how you treat them,

for example. booting it from below 1,500revs will get that big torque spike running throught everything in big lump (not good for the transmission) ..... booting it from 2.5-4.5k where it holds 150-160bhp most of the time, and the torque is already up there, will be kinder to the clutch g/box, and get the most from the performance...

I like to see a RR print out, because it gives you the information on how to get the best out of your car, for example revving it past 4.5k is pointless, booting it below 1.5k potentially damaging, so keeping it anywhere (going on my graph) between 2.5k and 4.5k will get 99% of the performance, 99% of the time (if I was wanting to press on that is)

all good stuff :)

if you go here

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/rollingroad.html

all the results will be posted by awsome next week (y)

date was 20th (briskoda RR day) so may make interesting reading ;)

I had mine mapped at red dot raceing on their rolling road.
Special offer price of 200 quid all in and instant results to see 174 bhp.
I have had previous cars done at the side of the road and been happy with the results but have to say rolling road is the way to go.

A big thumbs up to Red Dot (y)

Cool...have you got the graph of the r/r?

I have also heard a 170-175bhp result for red dot... I would like to see the graph too, to compare it to mine, if it's just a spike in power, it wouldn't be useable on the road, if it holds high power well then it would be a better map...

please post up when you can would really like to see a comparison.....
