Technical Remapped 1.9 Figures

i have aTUNIT BOX not some cheap and nasty box,a worldwide company with a lifetime gaurentee its made specifically for the gp engine, also the parameters of the box, torque curve for example can be altered via laptop whilst you are driving the car by a tunit tech to suit you.then if i decide to do petrol in my next car which i am,i can sell it for £180 or even more.can you do that with your remap.rest my case:slayer:

I'm now also bored as Ffoxy has just stated.

I was moaning because I don't like the 'boy racery' image every young man gets from the older generation.

I tire of this arguing, right Ffoxy be nice ;)

And I will too ;)

I am nice lmao!

OK PuntoKris as u live not far away and us Midlanders with our islands have to stick together... DEAL! :p

Nice Ffoxy! (y)

Can't say I know much about remaps or tunit boxes but I did read that with one of the tunit bxes (can't remember which one) that it has a number of settings so that it can be disabled or set that it only comes into effect when the car has warmed up, I thought these where quite useful. There was also the choice of a password to stop other drivers of the car using the box but this consisted of a number of key turns to enable/disable and this sounded like something that could go awol in the future

as fFoxy said 'Let Connor do his own Test drives and make his own choice'......im afraid i cant test drive remapped punto the way we wud all like to, because the few that exist belong to you guys, not a car dealer! on the subject of being one up on someone else, im trying to by the best car i can with me hard earned wages lol thanks for all the help guys, and seeing the pic of u and ur friends car, the st and gp, makes me want both equaly as much!! once again, thanks for the advice!!

hiya conor, i test drove the ST and whilst it felt nippy, you would have to thrapse it in every gear to get anywhere, and be in the correct gear for in gear acceleration, where as with the GP Sporting (diesel one at least anyway!) it pretty much goes in any gear at any speed providing it aint 6th at 30mph! lol. the thing i found the Fiesta lacked was a 6th gear. at 70mph on the motorway the engine is revving at 3200rpm, and whilst it doesn't sound alot, it sounds alot when you're driving a long motorway journey... it would soon get on you t1ts! the GP Sporting is revving at about 2,050rpm, which is amazingly quiet. you think of a diesel and think noisy, but god it is extremely refined, you can hardly hear it on the motorway.

another thing to consider is the insurance, tax and running costs, the fiesta st i would imagine would only be averaging about 28-29mpg around town where as my GP is doing 44, and upto 60 on the motorway where as in the fiesta you would pushing to get 42ish...

imho, with the remap that is available for the GP, i wouldn't see any logic in getting the ST, other than the n/a petrol engine/exhaust note the GP imo out weighs the ST in all other area's and will save you fortune whilst giving you more than likely just as much or maybe more fun/thrills.

also, the GP is far better looking!!!

just my opinion buddy, but as said, go for test drives, and see what you like... i also found that the corolla t sport offered a good alternative to the ST, as does the Celica, and their exhaust note is awesome, sounds very reminiscent of a 750 motorbike! lol.

It never ceases to amaze me how many times these arguements come up, lol. Anyway, seeing as nobody with a re-mapped car has commented ill give you my opinion.

The GP after a re-map is a totally different animal, it is much easier to drive. You can not directly compare the GP with the ST as they are totally different to drive. The ST needs revving hard to get it to move well whereas the GP will shift in most gears at mosts speeds like already mentioned.

The reason a re-mapped GP would have the edge over a lot of the more powerful cars is that it is ready to go pretty much whenever, petrols need to build the revs.

You no doubt would enjoy both cars but the GP will be less stressful, better looking and cheaper to run.

Having driven both standard I would probably have the ST. But only if it was in white.

But I would probably have a remapped GP over an ST though. Even though the ST looks better (in white) and sounds better. The one in the pic has a full miltek and sounds brilliant.

I'm sorry if this post has not helped your decision in the slightest

this is all very good help and knowledge for me, and the idea of mpg and insurance does change things round a bit for me, gp being group 6 and ST group 13, its crazy differences!! but as said before i need to find the time to test drive an ST, my gp test drive was brilliant. in reply to puntokris, it has helped me immensly, i wasnt looking for my decision to be made for me, and its great how you guys havnt just said fiesta ST's are common and chavvy and all that stuff and you didnt just say 'GET A GP' lol, which is what can be expected from alot of other forums ha ha

i would imagine if you were to go on a fiesta st forum they would say 'get the st' :D have you considered anything else buddy?

if your budget can stretch to the running costs there are some bargain 182's knocking about, although i think they're group 16 insurance. i had a megane 225, and are very worthy of the group 17 insurance, they're mega fast, there is not alot out there that can touch them. :)

Think of the petrol you'd use .

Alot of forums just talk up the cars they own which is annoying when you want an honest opinion of what to have.

If you want lower running costs and higher tuneability go for the GP

If you want a better looking car (In white (y) ) and a nice sounding petrol engine then go for the ST!

Interior wise the ST has a nicer interior imo (unless you have the leather option in the GP then it's debatable)

Also the fiesta has better build quality aswell which seems to have been looked past.

But the GP can be tuned to 170bhp easily so it would skin an ST

Conor, you have had a very balanced set of opinions made by some very nice & helpful people. You need to drive both the GPS diesel & the Fiesta petrol. The yearly cost of insurance (never mind Road Fund Licence!) between Gp 6 & Gp 13 is dramatic for a youngster. The difference in MPG is also dramatic. Whilst the GPS is an absolute slug until you get in 2nd gear @ 2000rpm, once that turbo is spinning there aren't many performance petrol engined cars that will stay with it - & about 44MPG to boot!!

Fit a Tunit or Dragon box (both fully programmable for either "Performance & Economy" - which equates to approx a 27BHP gain PLUS another 4MPG - or you can elect for max performance with a drop in MPG...).

A lot has been said here about "dire" consequences to the longevity of the engine & it's a load of poo. All a re-map or tuning box does is increase the amount of diesel injected into the cylinders at certain throttle depressions. At low (idling) speeds this causes the turbo to spool up earlier - creating much better driveability from a standing start. Consequently you don't need as much throttle to accelerate - hence the increased MPG. Just go to DragonPerformance.co.uk for an explanation. In the week that I had a tuning box fitted my GPS 130 absolutely flew & returned over 48MPG...(y) (& it's for sale in the FF Classifieds... )

Unfortunately, despite fitting the GPS with all the toys (Blue&Me, Air Con etc.) Fiat trimmed the cockpit in hard cheap & cheerful black plastics. The Fiesta is a nicer environment to be in - but it's Horses for Courses!

I have a 1.9 130bhp sporting and i'm soon to remap it to 170bhp, tbh mate, i've drove an ST, it's not all it cracks up to be! honestly. GP is a very solid drive and re-assures you it aint gonna break down (touch wood) :)

Didn't realise you were a fellow midlander!

Your not a yamyam are you?

Kris, that's a bit racist in this PC world. Not many on the forum know what you are saying but I hail from Oakham Road, Dudley, (Tividale). By the way, I is as BLACK as the Ace of Spades, 5'9" & 16 Stone & you don't want to bump into me on a dark night! (You can call me a Spade or most other names - I don't mind - but if you call me a YamYam then I'll send the brothers round to educate you - you won't be too hard to find).

Seriously though: Be careful of remarks like this. They don't personally offend ME but others may take offence. Take care Bro.

Mike I took Kris' yamyam as a question "am I from Wolverhampton" thats the definition of a yamyam,

Context from a Wolves person "Yam orite yow am" that kind of thing :)
As opposed to a Brummuy etc lol!

Sure Kris was nowhere near wher you think he was mate (y)

Lenny Henry was no mate of mine. I used to drink (30+ years ago) at the Golf Club & the pub (can't remember it's name) at the top of Oakham Road. I lived at "Briar Dene" , Oakham Road - the only house backing on to the golf course. My Grandad built that & the ajoining house about 1920. My cousin owns the tyre yard next to the golf club. He's white - not his fault though....:yuck: Anyway - this post is way off thread & should be removed - Mods?
