Dear all,

My Dad got a New GP and he is being driven wild by the automatic Beep Beep that the car does whenever a door is not yet shut, or the seat belt is not yet on (he does wear a seatbelt when he drives of course) or
whenever the Gearbox (automatic) thinks you are doing something wrong, or
not pulled the handbreak yet etc etc !

We have all (in our family) always driven Fiats since the 50s. This one (the GP) is the first one that "thinks and speaks too much" can we silence it ?

I tried to go through the endless Menu (of Volume types etc) but nothing changes this nerve wrecking Beeping, is there a way to disable it?

Many thanks to all in advance for any advice you may give.
Cheers

Easiest to do what you're suppose to.. e.g.

or whenever the Gearbox (automatic) thinks you are doing something wrong,

Leave it in gear when parking, and shift it to N before starting it up again (whilst stepping on the brakes).

There is a menu option for reducing the volume of the beep-try that. INHO the beep is there for a purpose-to stop you driving with the handbrake on for example.

:yeahthat: - if you somehow disable/bypass the warning sounds then you could possibly be doing damage without realising it.

Like what everyone else said, why not do the things to cause the car to beep;)

The only thing annoys me is the seatbelt noise, especially when i have to get out and sign in at the gatehouse at work and then drive round the corner and have to put my belt on, get some funny looks for that. But i can live with it.

Everything I did seemed to set off a beep in my auto GP when I first got it but now it almost never seems to happen - I just got used to doing things in the order that the car wants them done. I know the beeping is supposed to protect us/the car but it did drive me mad at first especially when I couldn't even work out what I was supposed to have done wrong but it hardly ever happens now after just a few hundred miles.

I think it's good that the GP beeps at you, if you left your handbrake on for instance and it didn't beep at you think of the wear on your brakes and handbrake cable, smoke alarms are anoying too when they go off!

The seat belt beep pisses me off TBH I wear my seatbelt ALL the time driving, how ever in our house there are a few cars to jiggle about in the drive and If say I have to move the Megane to get the Doblo Out to get my GP out I tend to not put my belt on in every vehicle cause im not going over walking pace, its very annoying how id doesnt stop beeping in reverse either cause I never reverse with my belt on, never have done and never will

mine has stopped bleepin for everythin apart from the seat belt. it used to bleep for the doors and hand brake but doesnt anymore.... weird!

It's really annoying if you place anything of any weight on the passenger seat (eg: shopping) as it bleeps until you reach the first corner.

The direction indicator noise is worse. I've started having funny turns. If I knew where the tick-tocker was then I would stick a bit of cotton wool over it!

as soon as i hit reverse mine stops bleeping :)

so i can reverse minus seatbelt...

i think that mad mike was taking the p155 there is a pressure mat built into the passenger seat so when you sit on it the car knows the seat is occupied and activates the seat belt reminder alarm, the passenger air bag, seat belt pretensioner etc

so you put a bag of shopping on the seat and set off it beeps till you rail it round a corner or brake hard the bag flies off the seat and the beeping stops(y)
