Erm u can actually get these little things that plug into the seat belts to make the car think they are plugged in. some of the taxis around here are citreons that think they are clever too and they all have these little things that plug in and shut the car up lol

i think that mad mike was taking the p155 there is a pressure mat built into the passenger seat so when you sit on it the car knows the seat is occupied and activates the seat belt reminder alarm, the passenger air bag, seat belt pretensioner etc

Huh? I thought it was based on whether the passenger door had been opened?

I thought everyone knew the GP had a pressure sensor in the seat, no? Oh well, as far as im aware there is no was of stopping the beep, which IMO is a good thing, in my old car i never wore a seatbelt, and now i HAVE to, which is good.

so you put a bag of shopping on the seat and set off it beeps till you rail it round a corner or brake hard the bag flies off the seat and the beeping stops(y)

Spot on! Drivers who prefer not to wear a seat belt might consider investing in a luxury toilet seat to lift them off the pressure mat. Great for piles too!

My stripe is based on the active and it has a passenger seat sensor.
The only time mine beeps is for the seat belt(but not when in reverse)

The only thing that happens when a door is open is a message appearing in my dash.

My dynamic sport has a pressure sensor on the passengers seat. I always stick my work laptop bag on the seat and the bloody beep goes off! But the solution is really easy, I place it on the floor.

So back on topic, take the advice of people on this board. Just don't do the things that cause the beep. You won't find a car these days that doesn't beep at you quite a lot.

My GP only beeps when the belts are unbuckled, the doors are open or I leave my lights on. It never beeps for anything else though :s

Like others have said, if you're doing the right things it won't beep at you. I'm pretty sure it doesn't beep until you get past 20kmh either for all the people talking about moving their cars out of their drives.:)

Yeah, but at least shows the search function works. (y)

Personally, I don't really get the beeping, having had the car for years now I've kinda got into the routine of having everything as the car would like before setting off.

Just plug the passenger seatbelt in, then yet can load that seat up as much as you like. Works for me when I need to take the cat to the vet.

The beeping scores extra Euro ncap points so you won't find a modern car that doesn't do it (nor an off switch).
