Right, I want to put this debate to bed.

If you have a GP sporting without a spare wheel you want to get yourself a 15inch 4 stud wheel (From an older type punto etc) with a tyre size 185/65/15. This will fit in the boot and it will fit the car.

End of topic as far as im concerned lol.

I managed to source mine from a scrappie all in for £15.

However you could just settle for a tub of goo. Good look with that tyre rip on a sunday lol.:slayer: :slayer:

I have tried to put this debate to bed twice in the past giving the same information but you still get people asking about it. :bang:

Best to get a proper G.P. wheel though to be sure that it fits. (y)

i got a proper wheel in the back of my grande y is this? is it because i do not have alloys?

Sporting alloy doesn't quite fit into the tire well from what I understand. The wheel is too wide (or tire well too shallow depending on your point of view).

Troy.

Goood god people

the 1.9 sportings have 17 inch alloys which do not come with spare wheels.

If you have a spare and your in the uk, you aint got a sporting lol.

Or you have bought a spare yourself lol

arent older Puntos 4x98 pcd and the GP 4x100, it may be very close, but not enough to trust it, a steel wheel and cheapy tyre cant be too much money from Fiat, a 15 inch from a base model would be fine!

Here we go, one more time.

You need a 15" steel wheel from a standard G.P. 100mm PCD.

On to this fit a 185/65/15 tyre.

It fits in the well with no problems.

This is the correct size spare for all models with 185 tyres and above.

You will also need a wheelbrace and jack. You can get the set from say, a MK2 Punto, from a scrap yard or Ebay.

Sorted (y)

Amen brother.

Lets see how many more times this question gets asked in the future.

Im gonna hunt down and shoot any offenders pmsl.

yes but in your 1st post you say get a wheel from an older punto, these are 98 PCD

BigAl54 says get a wheel from a GP with 100 PCD

not clearing it up with contradicting info

I have purchased a 15" G. Punto Active steel wheel.

If you look at G. Punto Active's they are fitted with 175/65 R15 84 tyres.

This is the size of tyre that I purchased and this steel wheel/tyre combination
fits in the spare tyre hole in the boot of a G. Punto 'Sporting'.

If a 185/65 R15 84 tyre was purchased and fitted to the steel wheel the problem that I was told I would encounter would be that the boot floor would then not be flat and level because the tyre would not sit 'flush' with the floor.
As it is the 175/65 R15 84 ever so slightly pushes the carpet up.

pffffffff.

Ok ok ok. Bugger it. Stick to your can of squirty goo and the AA.

Job done.

Oh and the carpet lies flat by the way.:p

Im just going on what the scrappie merchant said earlier today about the origin of my steel wheel.

Either way it was tested on my car before purchasing the wheel for the costly 15 scrotes.

So to clear any confusion:-
Or to quote again.

You need a 15" 4 stud steel wheel , 100mm PCD.

On to this fit a 185/65/15 tyre.

It will lie flat.
It will fit in your boot.
It does not come as standard.
You cant have it as an option from new.
Unless you have 17" alloys on your car you already have a spare.
The world will not end if you dont/do have one.
175/65/15 will fit but It is more ideal to have a 185/65/15.
Other make of steel wheels will fit as long as the dimensions match.
You can buy a steel for a standard GP and fit your own 185/65/15 tyre.

so i'll say it for a 3rd time.you state you got as wheel from an older punto, these are 98pcd.
the GP is 100 PCD
dependent on offset a wheel of a VX will give you the 100 PCD.
its fine if your happy to torque a 98PCD wheel on a 100 PCD hub but clarify the information you post

Ive just said get a 100 pcd have I not?

I also said that the scrappy said the wheel was a fiat however this may not be the case. Either way It was tested on the car and fitted spot on.

So ignore the older fiat wheel comment and go for a 100 pcd.

i have 4 original steel wheels, off my active.

not for sale though :nerner:

:p

So why do I have a 185/65/15 spare in my boot causing no problems what so ever

As I said the correct spare for anything over 185 is a 185. How would your insurance company view the fact that you are using a "non-standard" spare?

I should add that there's no reason why the well on the Sporting should be any different to say, mine which is a Dynamic Sport. So why do you think the 185 wont fit?

I'm getting a headache :bang:
