Technical Remote window operation

Technical Remote window operation

It's written down in the handbook you guys got with your car how to operate the windows remotely. (y) The function doesn't work in Sportings. Don't ask why. I know it's stupid.

The saleman didn't tell me I had deadlocks, maybe he didn't know himself!
I read it in the hand book and just thought I'd try it and hey presto it worked.
The trouble is the hand book doesn't tell you which models have which features it just says something like "if fitted" (n)

People are getting confused.

On topic, it mentions in the handbook how to operate the remote windows. I knew i had seen it somewhere, but it doesnt work on the Sporting. F*ck knows why.

Off topic, all GP's have deadlocks as far as im aware. One press to lock to doors (gives one flash of the lights) and a second press quickly afterwards to activate the deadlocks (give three flashes altogether).

well back to the deadlock subject ive tried it on mine and i get the short flashes then a long one flash but i can still open the doors with the keyfob i dont have to use the key to unlock it

See i wanted to no if there was a way to do this because the amount of times i come out of a place and the cars open or the boots been popped up is unreal one day someone will nick all my stuff out the boot i just know it.

You have got that the wrong way round mate. The deadlocks mean you cant open it with the key, it has to be via the button. All it does is stop anyone who doesnt have the transponder opening it or anyone who is trying to use the spare.

The problem with opening stuff by accident is unavoidable, i get paranoid by this, lol.

i tried the deadlock thing on my sporting but it didn't work, do u lock it then when it's stopped flashing press again or press twice quickly?
what happens when you've got the deadlocks on and then your battery runs out on your transmitter? lol

Its 2 presses quickly, before its stopped flashing.

Easy, your buggered, lol.

right,

do

THIS.

click once only,

then HOLD down the button about a second later, when the deadlocks engage you will get a looong flash and a nice 'clunk'

regarding the window thing, i think it only works on dynamics. :)

PMSL ChrisUK ur actually usin the Sig from that poor Punto learner!! :D :D

Normal door locks are designed to be over-ridden by someone opening the door from inside (for safety purposes). Sadly this makes things simple for car thieves.

Deadlocks prevent someone using the interior handle to open the door- ie should they smash the window, they can't get in by simply opening the door afterwards (it makes it harder for them).

The lock will still operate (unlock) with the remote and manually with the key- I'm 99% certain you can even activate the deadlocks using the key in the door barrel (usually by turning it to the "lock" position twice in quick succession).

With the deadlocks engaged the ONLY way to open the car is with the keyfob remote. I know this as one day I left my keys in my wifes car. I attempted to use the spare key in the door lock with the deadlocks engaged. The key would not even turn in the lock.

Therefore if battery power on your keyfob remote is getting low. Get it changed and in the meantime do not use the deadlocks!

Sounds like your spare key isn't cut right- does it work if you go outside and try it now? I've borrowed a Grande for the weekend and just tested it-

With the deadlocks engaged, the car can still be unlocked manually with the key in the barrel. ;)

Although I was right to not be 100% about deadlocking it manually- cos you can't

The windows won't open/close with the fob on this car either (1.4 Sport). :bang:

I will make the appropriate phone calls to get it replaced. Thanks for the heads up.(y)
