How does the 90 hp 1.3 MJ compare to the lesser veraions?
ANy reliability issues so far? I would have thought it must be pretty peaky and have a narrow power band or is it just a "full fat" version of the lesser ones?

The 1.3 90 has excellent pulling power from 1,900 rpm right up to and beyond 4,000rpm.

The power available from 1,000 to 2,000 is 'off-boost' (ie the turbo is not doing anything) so it is pretty feeble, but you can read all the other threads regarding the 'turbo lag' of this car. This only applies at city speeds, when pulling out of a roundabout or junction.

If you keep the revs at 2,000 or above it is very willing and pulls well, far better than the 75bhp version.

I have driven a lot of small modern deisels in the last few years (hire cars) and all have been pretty feeble below 1800rpm.. the worst was recent, a Meriva 1.7 CDTI.. 2000- 3600 power band.. horrible, outside of that couldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding... the 1.6 petrol was better and nearly as economical.. not that I would buy one!!! So far best engine I have had was Ibiza 1.4 TDi.. pulled from low down and reved well too... Corsa with the MJet in it wasnt bad.. but car felt a bit heavy...
