All the reports I've read so far seem to be about the Sporting 1.9 remapping, which whilst seemingly endorsed by their owners, is a different beast to the 1.3 90 Mjet.

A remap would take my 90 BHP to 120 BHP - stop sniggering you Sporting owners!

Anyone have a GP 1.3 90 (ie variable vane turbo) remapped by Angel or a.n.other? If so, what are your experiences, in particular with regard to the turbo lag at city speeds (eg when taking off from roundabouts, T-junctions etc)?

Remap 1.3 Mjet!!!

Howdy!!
Anyone know approx what kinda hp you'd b gettin outta a remap on the 1.3 mjet GP. She hasnt got the power captain!!!!!!!!:D

maybe u can be the first? :p
Mmm, doesn't fill me with confidence! I wonder why? Perhaps 1.3 drivers are not so 'sporting' as FIAT's 1.9 purchasers.

Of course, it just has to be that Angel charge more for a 1.3 90 remap than any other car on their FIAT list. I will have to elicit why that is. I'm just hoping it's not more problematical to remap a 1.3 than a 1.9.

Anyway, if there are any 1.3 owners out there with a remap, do respond (y)

because they have to remove the ECU to do the 1.3... the 1.9 can be done just by plugging in...

but I believe you may be the first I know of if you do it :)

...there are one or two people running with the plug in tuning boxes and they report a big difference
Pity they don't join this forum then so we could all share in their experiences!

I'm slowly getting to the point where I'm determined to get it done, money permitting of course. I've now 7,000 miles on the clock so time's ticking away.

It's a bit disconcerting that it requires removal of the ECU and takes so long; part of me wants this to be a transparent upgrade so no-one is any the wiser. Removing and refitting the ECU, with the potential for surrounding cable disturbance wasn't really what I had hoped for! I wonder if a re-flash of the ECU is a simpler job once the ECU has had it initial removal/reinsertion completed the once?

Yes, yes, I know, talk to Nigel at Angel. All in good time.

I have a dragon box, 5 mins to fit, power around 110-115 torque 175. When on boost its pretty nippy - unfortunately mines the 5 speed, will hit 4500 in top!
mpg is at 47.7.

We can do the 1.3, but it takes about 3 hours as indeed its ECU out. Don't forget we run a 1.3 Multijet ourselves with this ECU and its gets HAMMERED daily - its done 46,000 mile sin 6 months without missing a beat.

The power increase is up by 35bhp and 50lb ft of nice clean power on these.

Just book in as normal, we don't do group days as the time factor doesnt allow.

We can actually do them from the diagnostic port, but prefer to take a full backup before hand - that just our belt and braces approach on some cars.

It's been some time.... has anyone done it yet then? I'm still quite interested in getting it done, just wana hear some more reports. Is it still ECU out/taken apart or is it now the case that it's as easy to do as the 1.9?

not sure about anyone in this section, but I'm fairly sure someone in the panda section has had it mapped by Angel, and they are happy with it..... (y)

No, I've not had it done.

Three things put me off. One, Nigel from Angel confirmed that the ECU would have to be removed, remapped and then refitted. Not quite the transparent upgrade I was after.

Secondly, (due to the extra work) it was the most expensive upgrade on the list. I suppose if it had been £50 I might have just had it done and be damned with simple upgrade process, but at £350 plus the inherent risk of ECU removal I thought better of it.

Thirdly, I was after total removal of the dreaded turbo lag from 1,000 to 2,000 revs when pulling off in 1st gear. Nigel confirmed that it was 'improved' but not eliminated. Whilst I'd love an extra 30BHP and 50Lb ft what I REALLY wanted was that damned turbo lag gone. If that couldn't be done then the raison d'etre for the whole remap was nul and void.

I now have 10,000 miles on the clock. Turbo lag still as bad as ever but I try and remember to get the revs up to 2,000 BEFORE pulling out at roundabouts! Works about 8 times out of 10 (about the same as Whiskas then). I'm still really impressed at the general driveability of the 1.3, goes VERY well for its tiny 1248cc engine and I get around 45-55 mpg depending very much on the journey type.

cheers for that, i've read a great deal of posts by you, i'd like the extra power too but more than anything, as you pointed out, it's the turbo lag i'd like rid of. It's considerably more powerful than my mk2 1.2 8v and i feel a lot safer in it and most of all it's a gorgeous piece of kit, so i'm still happy. I'm happier with the lag than having the 75 anyhow, test drove that and it was alright but not the same on the motorway, pulling away in 5th with it still eager to chase from 65 onwards:)

might look to do it when the warranty is up :p

Consider a tuning box, lag is much bettfrom 1500 with decent pull at 1700rpm Only paid 135 for mine. Mines a 5 speed and it will revout in top
