Nice find. There are so many little and not so little changes. I cant help but feel that it is going to make any other GPs look a little boring even though they are such great looking cars. Really cant wait to see this in production.

I reckon that's just a normal GP that some blokes stuck some bumpers onto with electrical tape :p :D

Very nice. I really can't wait for these, been really champing at the bit to drive a a properly sporty new Fiat, it's been too long.

Troy.

not bad i like the fog lights at the front a lot though. looks funny because of the 3 different colours.

I don’t understand how people say "I don’t like it" as it is just a Sporting with slightly different alloys and slightly different bumpers...(unless you dont like the Sporting!!!???)

Its hardly received a make over which is going to either completely spoil the looks or Radicalise it... Although I guess its the engine, handling, interior and Brakes ;) which will really set it apart from the Warm Sporting!

Cheers

looks good to me, any experts with photoshop out there that can make it one colour and repost?

I wonder how long it will be before "warm" GP owners start to add bolt on bitz to look like the Abarth  Thats assuming FIAT dont make it too expensive or nigh on impossible to do so. :p I would have preferred something a bit more radical for the Hot version  Something that would make me want to trade up, of course it will make the Abarth badged standard GP's look a bit "wannabe-silly" lol! :D

To each his own I say... (y) GP's are all great looking cars and I will have another in 2 years, probably sell :slayer: my wifey the one I got she is looking at it longingly now!! :yum:

What do you mean start :D . I personally dont think this particular one is "radical" enough as you put it to be giving out 200+bhp. I reckon this will be the 1.4 turbocharged effort they have planned.

With regards to the standard GPs that are abarth badged looking silly im not so sure because i reckon my GP would be more than a match for the 1.4 Turbo. Only one way to find out though and thats to wait.

i just wondered with all the talk of remapping why would you not be able to remap the arbath up to 200+bhp etc

That's what an opinion is - just because you like something doesn't mean the person next to you feels the same way. Imagine how boring the world would be if we're all the same.

tbh though, it would be hard work to get 200bhp reliably from the 1.4

and i reckon that a mapped sporting would give one a run for its money!!

i think it looks better than the sporting they have just giving it the same body treatment as the panda 100hp crisscross grill and matt black wheel arch and sill extentions thats all hope it has better seats than the sporting?but 200bhp that model no definetly not 150bhp tops.better model still to come with next years face lift i think with 2.0 litre turbo and 200bhp

As for the 1.9 Re-mapped Sporting giving the Abarth a run for its money... Depends!!

In reality diesel does not combust as violently as petrol and certainly doesn’t produce as much of a bang hence why Diesels have never produced the same power as a N/A engine and always require a turbo to get any form of power. On the other hand diesel units produce bags of torque but have lack of revs so the power is only really purposeful through gears.

If we look at the 1.4 16v Turbo in the Hot'ish GP Abarth its going to be producing around 155 BHP / 175 Lb/Ft torque and with a kerb weight of around 1080 Kg vs the 1295 Kg of the 1.9 Sporting figures will look something like this...

GP Abarth 155 / 1080 * 1000 = 143 BHP per ton
GP Sporting 130 / 1295 * 1000 = 100 BHP per ton
GP Sporting 170 / 1295 * 1000 = 130 BHP per ton

We have to take torque figures into consideration but from just the BHP figures its clear to see that the up rated chassis, suspension and tweaked brakes would leave any GP Sporting for DEAD around country roads and be very similar on the motorway I would assume!
Same with the Panda 100HP, ok your 1.9 GP Sporting would be pulling away through gears/motorway but take it on a country road and watch as the little Panda 100 pulls away with just over 105 BHP per ton!

Also worth a mentioned is the 500 Abarth, with an estimated kerb weight of 955 Kg the same calculation as before 155 / 955 * 1000 = 162 BHP per ton :slayer:

Hope this has provided some good information for you guys!

Cheers

sorry but a panda 100hp would never beat a GP Sporting standard or modified on a country lane! i owned a megane 225 before this, and that stuck to the road through bends, corners, hard acceleration, hard braking... ok, the GP is no where near as stable, but it could kick a 1.4 n/a cars arse through the country lanes as most of them are made up of corners which require 2nd or 3rd gear, and you will usually come out of the other side with about 2000rpm providing you are in the right gear, and that is prime in gear acceleration and pace territory for the GP sporting diesel, so a panda imo would be no competition.

ok, the panda has a lower centre of gravity, so in theory you should be able to chuck it about a bit more, but the GP hangs on pretty well and is still pretty chuckable.

as for the weight of the GP Sporting MJ, iirc its 1205kg.

aint you forgeting the panda would need to get in front first???????????????? as for the gp abarth v a remapped multijet iv beaten a lot more powerful cars than that. ie a new golf gt aka 170bhp in theory and on the road dont allways equate
