I have been one of the main people to complain about the the turbo lag of the the 1.3MJ 90 (6 speed) it drives me round the bend in day to day driving (especially as I drive it infrequnltly as it is my wifes :worship: main car)

but having just spent the last week driving on Scotish A roads i have just realised that there is nothing wrong with the car I just live in the wrong part of the country!!!

What a hoot the car was on these roads with a bit of concentration the 6 speed box was the a hoot and I was never of boost or torque.

What the hell were Fiat thinking of trying to sell this car on its economy potential it is a outright A road barnstormer, i bet the test drivers had as big a smile as i had when blasting around the the Italian lowlands.

I've just agreed with you in my "MPG What are you getting" thread!

As you say, the turbo lag does drive me nuts (some days are worse than others).

As you say, once 'on-boost' it drives like a willing puppy. If only FIAT had remapped the ECU to at least get the power down at 1,500 rpm then we'd all be singing and dancing.

Are you not thinking of an Angel remap some time? (It's supposed to make this aspect of it better).

never going to be perfect though, remember its only a 1.3.
Oh I quite agree, I think FIAT have done a stupendous job of getting a little 1.3 to push around a GP with such verve.

But if Angel (and others) can improve on the turbo lag at city speeds, then FIAT could probably eliminate it altogether - and in the process make a good car a GREAT car!

When/if I ever get it remapped I'll obviously post back as to how much of the turbo lag has disappeared!

I was looking at a remap and was going to join in on a couple of the forum group buys but Angel need four hours to do the 1.3 so you can't get the usual group buy discount, so it works out quite expensive

I have also yet to see a review from any 1.3 90 driver for an Angle remap so am a bit cautious as to whether it will get around the frustrating low down power issues as it is a lot of cash to spend just on spec and reviews of other engined cars. I know they offer a money back guarentee, but i am a tight Yorkshire man at heart
