Has anyone had their GP written off and if so, what was the extent of damage?

Mine was involved in an accident today, the car was taken away before I could see it up close but the driver's side sill is totally bent, the door ruined and won't open (a hole punched right through somehow), and the side curtain airbag went off tearing up the headlining with it.

As far as I can see needs a respray along entire offside, new door and door innards, inner and outer sill, airbag unit and reset, headlining and possibly the whole chassis needs to go on the jig.

I fear a write off, does anyone have any experience of this yet?

thats a damn shame...i was threatened with a write off when i bumped mine cos i bent the steering rack but heres hoping yours wont come to that ..DAYUM i feel for ya

I remember someone had a smash with an old Pug and their front end was pretty much gone..

sorry to hear it, although from what you have said it does not sound like a write off as doesnt the damage have to be more than 70% of the value of the car before this is the case ?

She pulled out in front of someone emerging from a junction, head dead centre, almost no damage to the panelwork either side of the front door (3 door car), but the sill and door completely stove in.

I figure the car's worth about £5.5k, needs a new sill, door, airbag, headlining.... generally if cost of repair exceeds 50-60% of value then it's a total loss. I can see there being at least 50% of the value just from what's visible, but I've no idea on the extent of chassis distortion and other things like the pyrotechnic charges on seatbelt pretensioners etc.

I reckon it's finished. Been checking on Fiat Supasaver for replacement already.

mine was the one who mated with an old pug and they are fixing it, at a cost of about £6000, they are having to order spares from italy because the parts needed just arent in the country, etc etc
