it only supports a high level speaker input amp.

you need aftermarket for a decent setup.

i removed my headunit with a coathanger (y)

two ends in each hole then pushed it out from inside the glove box.

I'm thinking about changing my headunit, but i want a decent one, preferably with a motorised screen or if not just one with a 3.5" dvd screen in it. also, my friend it trying to sell me his two 12" subs and amp, so if i get them i was thinking id need to change my headunit anyways.

dont go for 12" always the 10"
you will get a better respeonse from the sub speaker and therefore better sound quality(y)

Any particular reason why you say that?

well i have heard alot of sound systems with 12" up to 18"
and i just thought when i heard a 10" it just sounded to much clearer with less rumble noise with more of a punch i mean its a personal preference but that what im going for
check the pics of the subs im getting
it has all the speks to

So the box volume, the sub used, the power it was seeing and the quality of the installation had nothing to do with it? :)

if you want a really good sound buy an exspensive component hifi and put it in your lounge but 10" are the way:slayer:

but 10" are the way

No, not necessarily. The only real difference between the different sizes is the cone area (obviously) - a larger cone area usually means it can get louder due to it being able to displace more air. The size of the sub does not make a sub good - there are plenty of other factors involved.

yeah i totally get you
but...
again it also depends what music you like
for me i like rock music so i need need a better response from a sub
thats why i say ten inch
but say for d&b or grime you would want a 12" or bigger which is fine all i was saying was that you will always get a better response from te speaker if its 10"
but..
you can have a 10" that is obsecenly loud.
you can get a 4 channel amp, two subs and you bridge two channels together for each sub
therefore getting almost double the power but again i need a quicker response from the speaker so 10" for me
at the end of the day its just personel preference!

but my opinion is that 10" are the way
and i respect your opinion:worship: :slayer:

in response to the original question, i have a sub along with the standard head unit, more than impressed, i still have lots of control over the sound of the sub, and if you let the sub provide the bass then the standard speakers are pretty good at producing everything else you want and make a better job of it, as they struggle a bit with both treble and bass. the main reasons i kept the standard h/u was because i didn't want a showy one as i didn't want it to appeal any more to thieves etc and imo they look messy as they don't really fit with the dash properly and i also didn't want to lose the blue & me plus it would mean spending X amount on a new unit, which i could be spending on something else. i paid £89 for my sub from ebay, and like i said, im more than happy with it!! :D

i went for the 10" because it would be a smaller unit than the 12" (obviously!) and i needed the extra bit of boot space. it's a very punchy bass note, but the bigger the sub the deeper the note. :)

So it was easy enough to fit to the standard headunit yes? Because I got the same feelings on changing the headunit as you minnnt, It will end up looking messy.

i cant take the credit for fitting it, as my mate did it for me, but it was easy peasy!!! (for him! :D ) he picked the signal up from the rear speakers iirc and bobs your mothers brother!!! :D

A 10" sub is no 'quicker' than a 12". You can influence a sub's optimal frequency range through box design and tuning. Some subs prefer highish tuning, whereas some are better when tuned low.

thought i would just add to this one
just fitted my new head unit today
i did have the same doughts that you did but it sits really flush with the centre console
i need to spray the facia to get it black but apart from that is does look good
i love it
ill put some pics up in a min(y)

oh right now that i did not know
yeah i can see what you mean
i can inderstand how a 12 is almost as quick as a ten but bigger ones may not be
what have you got on your car(y)
