You know your going through all this trouble to get rid of a bit of reflection? It could be that little bit of reflection that next time you get caught by a speed camera reflects the sun straight back at the speed camera over exposing the picture and making it unusable, thereby saving you a speeding fine???

Actually thats a bit far fetched ok lets try this one... next time someone is chasing after you trying to ram you off the road and kill you in a grisly fashion it could be that tiny bit of reflection that redirects the sun in the eyes of your pursuer and... nah still too far fetched, bah I give up :p

Still think the stripes are a bad idea, (bit like giving a ballerina a boob job tbh) but some of the designs on that last link were 'acceptable'.

But having stripes doesn't mean I'll become a reckless driver, speed, or start challenging people to drags! Besides if its really does look crap they can be removed (by heat according to the site).

slam your brakes on next time someone is too close. let their insurance company pay to fix your dent. ;)

But what if they only hit the bumper? Or should I prey on something bigger like a semi trailer? :p (T, joke, don't delete)

Dent specialists use reflective lines on the dent to see if the dent has gone as they progresively remove the dent.......stripes therefore wont hide the dent.

Whoever tried to get rid of dent in the first place obviously wasn't specialist enough (either that or it really is impossible to get rid of). Part of the problem is locally there aren't very many paintless dent removal services and I feel Oz is fairly behind compare to the US/UK. Imagine the amount of money I'll spend if I try the second one, doesn't work, third one, doesn't work, etc etc..

I personally think the stripes could work. There is a GP locally that has an off centre stripe running from front to back that is the italian flag colours. It sounds a bit wierd but it actually looks really good. Dont think it would work with blue though (this one is white).

Also, at the end of the day you have to do what you want to do. If you want to try it, try it. As you said before if you dont like it you can have it removed (may waste a bit of cash but the option is there). Imagine if everyone thought everything was a good idea, we would all have the same cars and that wouldnt be right. Definately off centre though if that will work with the dent.

Totally off-topic i no but i really want to know if anyone has any info on the kit used in the pics of the white GP with the black stripe. Anyone?

Forgot to mention about the white wheels. Do you guys have the option of having alloys painted over there? If you can then you have the choice of any wheels you want, in the colour you want. Just a thought.

Finally.. a supporter!! :woot:

You're right, it could be a waste of money but the main thing is the removability if I don't like it. Everyone seems very negative about it but who knows, I might prove you all wrong

Its still in the thinking/planning stage now, and won't happen for at least a few weeks until my boss (gf) returns from overseas for final approval

Don't quote me on this but I think the black stripes on the white GP is part of the Linea 019 Kit (see https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/102457-grande-punto-linea-019-body-kit.html).

Not sure about that, though I can't see why it can't be painted white. It'll be easier just to get them originally white, but I've yet to see a place that sells them, and if they do it'll probably be very expensive..

As i said previously, if your happy with it then it doesnt matter what others think, this is why we all do different things to our cars, to be different. Also i think there is a very good chance you could win a lot of people round when its done.

Cheers for the info on the kit, thats definately the one. I really like the front splitter and the side skirts.

It certainly would be easier to buy them in white but the trouble is firstly finding some, secondly finding ones you actually like and the finally them being the right fitting. Having alloys painted isnt too expensive and it will give you the choice of any you like. If you find white ones then all the better obvioulsy.

Just found these two Lenso wheels.. don't know how much they are but it won't be cheap! So might have to consider the paint option..

The ones on the left would look nice, I bet they're not going to be cheap at all when combined with the tyres.

What's given you this urge to spiff up the car all of a sudden? I thought you would have been concentrating on getting it sorted out first.

The left one is 15inch so I won't need to buy tyres for them, but they would be close to $1000 at the minimum.

Well I can't do much on the Dualogic front, so might as well concentrate on what I can do. No real reason for the sudden urge - its a spontaneously thing :D

15 inch is too small I reckon but don't forget you also have to look at the rim width as well as the offset and PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) to get a good fit.

I don't think there's much point getting new alloys unless they're going to be bigger and wider, but it's up to you. Go for a visit to your local tyre shop and see what's there :)

Agree - the only thing holding me back from a 17 is the possibility of voiding the warranty. Given the problems I've had in the last six months it would be most unwise if I go and have it void..

Yeah I see what you mean, I can't see how wheels should void the warranty... I mean as long as they're the right size and everything I can't see how they can make something go wrong. Maybe you should find out about it first.

The only other option I can see is going down to your local hardware store and buying a tin of white paint and a brush :D

I personally think that with the GP you need fairly chunky spokes if you want to go down that route because they look lost on a big car otherwise. Just my opinion.

With regards to the size i would definately go for 17's and fit some lower profile tyres. This way they will fit the arches nicely and you will not lose any performance. When i look at GP's with 15's i cant help but think they look too tall.

Im with Turbodiesel, i cant see wheels voiding the warranty but i suppose anything is possible.

Yeh don't get me wrong guys, I would like 17s! But can anyone confirm whether it will or will not affect the warranty? I mean surely replacing a set of 15s with 17s will have some effect on other components, and therefore affect the warranty, right?

Maybe I should read the manual (again) when I have time, or just speak to the dealer about it..

well a friend of mine has said after putting bigger wheels on you should change the ecu to make it run more smoothly with the bigger wheels and to get the speedo right again. sorry cant say for certain bout the warrenty but id put money on it that it wouldnt affect it.
