Technical Dodgy Brakes?

Hi everyone,

I feel like im slowly getting through my list of problems, however, about a week ago my mother was driving the car and when she went to pull up all of the lights on the dashboard came on. Now i know this isnt anything new but at the same as this happening the brakes all of a sudden pretty much gave up and the pedal juddered and stiffened up. It took a few attempts at turning the car off and on again before it all disappeared and everything was fine. What should i do? I obviously dont want this happening again, especially when driving, but i also dont want the garage to think im making things up again as there is no proof. They have already offered me my own desk, and although the receptionists are great i dont really want to go back.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Sounds pretty dangerous with the brakes.. would definitely take it back to the dealer, explain your safety concerns and have the car checked. I thought they can plug your car into the examiner and it'll show a log of what had happened?

And the Christmas lights, iirc the solution has something to do with either a software restart/update..?

Yeah i no this is what im thinking but im starting to feel like they are fobbing me off so i dont go back but its making me want to go back even more to get it sorted.

If you feel you can't deal with them, then head somewhere else. The best way to protest is not to yell and scream, but to give your business to someone else who treats you with honesty and respect.

Yeah this is what im thinking. I have a friend who is the managing director of another local dealer who im wishing i used initially that i am thinking of going to. It just annoys me that im having to take the car to someone i didnt even buy it from for them to fix it.

The pedal juddering usually indicates that the ABS has kicked in. Are you sure that is wasnt something as simple as braking too hard with the clutch not fully depressed so the ABS kicks in (brake pedal juddering and feels like the brakes arent working as they relaease then bite), the car stalls (hence dashboard lights) and then a few restarts required (if my car stalls it can take a few attempts to bring it back to life as presumabely the engine floods a bit with unburnt petrol)?

The chain of events could point to the above situation.

It sounds like you are bang on there. I hadnt really thought about that and as i said previously i wasnt the one driving, it was my mother. I wasnt even in the car at the time so i just had to listen to what she said happened. If it happens again then it will go back but i think i will just leave it for the time being.
