Looks like the new sporting centre console has gone plain black and not pre 07 sporting which was like a graphite. Am i right, i liked the graphite look.

my dad is changing his car during the summer, he currently has a 03 stilo m/w. He had a rental 07 GP during the week and he liked it alot..the interior was good the dash was solid and looked well built except for the glove box. However it was only the 1.2 active which really lacks powers and revs quite high. there seemed to be a lot of road noise aswell. which is the best model in your opinion? hes thinking of the 1.4 16v dynamic. for some reason they don't do the 1.9 diesel! my second question was going to be is there likely to be an update on the GP..but that has already happened..so whats new on the updated GP?

Hes waiting to see what the new bravo will be like and hes also tempted by the sedici but its rather expensive!!so its between most of the fiat range (GP, bravo, sedici) and possibily a Seat Leon!!any advice?:D :D

I might go check out a Sporting next week and maybe take it for a test drive. It'll be interesting to see if the dealer knows anything about the MY07 model here in Aus

Why am I not surprised?

Maybe Fiat Oz and all the dealers should learn some common sense and start reading this forum.

I'll be curious to see if the salesman can tell me something I don't already know about the GP :D

the redline must only come on the sportings, as they have the white dials don't they, do you think the dealers could install the dials if ordered, how expensive would they be?

Funny you mention that: during one of the many visits to collect my car I was practising my small-talk skills (just been transferred to Sales so keen to try out my interpersonal skils :D ) so I was saying these stuff about Fiats and mentioned how I spend a lot of time on this forum where people talk about Fiats. And his reaction was "Oh.. ok"

He obviously couldn't have cared any less. And you're right, if dealers and technicians spend just a little bit of time at this place, then its a win-win for everyone involved. Sadly, most just don't bother - perhaps selling just GPs aren't enough of a revenue driver for them to spend much time on it?

Yeah I can imagine that. The sad thing is not enough people are passionate about their jobs these days, they're just there to make money and couldn't give a stuff about anything else.

Very rarely do you come across someone who goes out of their way to help you. I'll let you know how I go when I visit the dealer, two weeks holidays for me :slayer:

Out of curiousity which dealer(s) will you be visiting?

Well I live near Campbelltown so that's where I'll be going to have a look at one. The good thing is that there's a Peter Donnelly service centre just down the road from my house as well as the one near the dealer so hopefully they are good. Corban in Wollongong is the next closest.

I really like and want a GP but yours and others experiences still linger in the back of my mind so there's no rock solid decision yet...

I think we're starting to drift away from the topic, but nonetheless let us know if the dials like any different (assuming its MY07) (y)

Anyway back on topic, I found this:

I don't know how accurate it is, but I find it hard to believe it would take a year for the MY07 to hit our shores. I mean if I went and ordered one now, are they going to go ahead and build me an outdated MY06 model?

I think the best people to ask are AU Fiat dealers - I'm sure (yeh right!) they will be able to tell you everything you need to know :p

Not suitable for highway cruising, but they don't sell it here anyway...

I believe 2008 is when a facelift Grande Punto is supposed to be released.

I suppose when the MY07 arrives depends on when they run out of MY06 stock. But if you order a car that has to come from the factory, the I would expect it to be MY07.
