Had this start on my car a while back, went in had the usual proxy allignment and software updates.. . Didnt solve it

Went back and they plugged it in while it was flashing, as it stops if you turn the car off and restart it. Came up with an error in the starting circuit saying the battery voltage was dropping below optimum on start up. It stayed at the garage while i was away and they plugged it back in again and it come up with no fault, but the dealer did say theyre lead on the diagnostic machine was fooked  They reset it and it didnt flash for 3 days and yesterday morning it started doing it again, only ever when you start it up from stone cold.. .

Anyone else had the same thing? Where its been harder to resolve?
Any of the Tech guys shed anymore light? T?

Cheers
Bob

Refer to the manual's battery section.

Tells you where to check battery conditon through the indictaor i.e

Green (y)
Red (n)

Also says something regarding eletroclite fluid.. :)confused:) on cold starts.

Mine was flashing on my way home from work got onto the drive turned it off opened the gates started the car again and it didn't flash..

Is a partly discharged battery the main cause then T? I greased the battery terminals when i first got the car I suppose checking the electrolite levels wouldnt go a miss i suppose...

i just change the display so that it doesn't flash and ignore it lol!

ye doesn't annoy me because most of the time i do not have it on how many miles i have done anyways its mostly on mpg which doesn't flash.

i would but mine is normally just dashes where there is not much left lol!!

i let mine get pretty low before i top up again, once had to roll it down the hill from my mates as it wouldn't start due to not enought petrol!

I always fill mine up before it goes into the red because you used to get all the crap in the bottom of the fuel tank into the fuel system if you went too low, this may not be an issue now with modern cars, fuel systems and filters etc, so it's a habit I can't kick - better than smoking!!

Also from a psychological POV its cheaper to fill up when its not-as empty

very true i have never thought of that! i suppose it does get me down when its empty and costs 40quid or something to fill it up again with supreme petrol!!

I have to agree with aberdeen_tim....

My old man used to have a Ford Escort which when we came back off holiday the warning light came on about 20 miles from home just as we exited the motorway it spluttered (on the top of the slip road and he limped it 200 yards to the petrol station where he filled it back up.....

anyhow it never ran the same again cut out at idle when he part-ex'ed the car the owner asked him if he had any problems with the car (after the deal and paperwork) as he wanted it for his son....

anyhow he explained the situation

he got a phone call back saying they had sorted it and thanks for his honesty and a £20 cheque! it was just a blocked injector which they cleared with a compressor......

BTW its better to fill up first thing in the morning (petrol is measured by Volume) and over night it cools down hence its volume decreases in the lines and tanks so you get more :slayer:
