Heater Fan/Motor leaf and debris removal
GotGrande

First things first, locate the position of the heater fan and surrounding ducting.

The heater fan/blower and air flow ducting are directly under the glove box on the passenger side as shown (no need to remove glove box)
So I'm not the only one that's been hit by very small pieces of leaf whilst driving along with the fan up high

Re: leaf and debris removal

Finally got round to doing this
Found a good 5 or 6 entire leaves in there along with some broken up pieces, guide is excellent thank you!

Did find a bit of trouble getting duct to line up properly with everything else however was perfect afterwards. Much quieter! Now I can rock out to my music without that annoying background noise

Re: leaf and debris removal

Thanks for the guide, did this the other day and removed what appeared to be 4 or 5 leaves. Only took a 5 minutes.

Re: Heater Fan/Motor leaf and debris removal

Thanks! Very helpful.
I cleaned my motor for 20 minutes. It's been full of stinky leaves, of course no matter what I did with cabine filter, it always stinks.
Now it's like on first day!

Re: leaf and debris removal

Thanks very much for this very helpful guide, I did this today and I can say that my heaters are now twice as powerful as before. Thanks again.

Regards

Re: Heater Fan/Motor leaf and debris removal

Thanks, so easy and quick yet so useful!
I'm surprised this isn't something garages do as part of a full service - but going by the leaves in there, clearly they don't!

Re: leaf and debris removal

My fan only works on the '4' setting. I'll do the clearing out but will it work on 1,2 and 3 or do I need a new rheostat (or something behind the knob)?

Re: leaf and debris removal

But on a serious note.
The 3 screws holding the fan in, what did you use to remove them? I had to use a set of plyers as I do not own a 5mm socket head

KILLED THE ELBOWS AND NECK

Re: Heater Fan/Motor leaf and debris removal

I had a pleasure of putting new motor in yesterday, never done that before and if I would see this yesterday it would be so much easier - great guide! This was the most uncomfortable job I have ever done!

Re: leaf and debris removal

really user-friendly guide!
Job could've been done quicker due to the lack of tools a student can afford... if anyone is struggling with finances, just use a pair of pliers, done the job
