Thumbs up Re: Fix for water in footwell/Rust at brake servo

Thanks Graham. The guide is excellent. I had exactly the same rust pattern as you. I my case, 3 of the clip/lugs on the hatch panel had broken allowing the water to run onto the bulkhead supprting the master cylinder. I drilled these out and used nuts and bolts instead. The seal looked ok, but I covered it in silcone to give it a fighting chance. I'll periodically douse the rusted area with waxoyl for as long as I keep the car.

Thanks Graham. I had the same rust problem caused by broken clips on the hatch panel. I will regularly treat it with waxoyl from now on.

I have the same issue with my Fiat Punto.

Just to confirm, would normal Silicon work? The kind you get for bathrooms and tiling?

I don't see why not as it's waterproof.

Hello All, recently Iíve discovered that my 56 reg sporting punto had soaking carpets drivers side! And upon some research and inspection found this collection point by the brake servo to be the problem. My issue is, is that I canno access this area to repair! How on earth do people manage this? To me it looks as tho the whole engine compartment has to come out... a local mechanic has mentioned to replace the brake servo from the inside, which would entail removing the entire dash and interior. Help?!

Re: Fix for water in footwell/Rust at brake servo

I have the same problem with my 2006 Punto Grande Active 1.4 8v so thanks for all the above info and pics. When I first noticed I had water in the footwell I took off the footrest panel(r/h drive) and noticed just the bottom bit from pedals down was wet. When I removed wet underlay I noticed a 20mm hole which at first thought obviously to me was the culprit. Only after a couple of days drying out did I notice water still coming in from the opposite side and after scouring the Fiat Forum did I come across you guy`s a blessing for sure, tomorrow i start sealing. But will someone please tell me....what do I do with this 20mm hole? do i plug it or leave it? what bothers me is a bit missing as it has a shape like for a lamp light bulb??? Its driving me nuts..any help appreciated!!! By the way this is my first post so a big Hi to ye all

Just stick some duct tape over it, it'll be in keeping with the build standard of the rest of the car.
