1. Place a hydraulic lift under the rear crossmember by the spring.

2. Undo the bolt securing the shock absorber to the suspension crossmember.

3. Slowly lower the hydraulic lift until the spring is not compressed and remove it.

Do the same for the right spring.

Refitting New Springs
- Place a hydraulic lift under the rear crossmember by the spring seat.

- Place the spring in its housing.

- Raise the hydraulic lift slowly until the shock absorber lower mounting is in line with its housing in the crossmember and then secure it tightening the bolt to the recommended torque.

Bolt Is M12 Tightened To 11.7 14.3 daNm

- Slowly lower the hydraulic lift until the spring is not compressed by the lift.

Do the same for the right spring.

Re: How To Replace Stock Springs Front + Back

This great guide gave me the confidence to tackle this activity. One other tool required is an allan key for the top of the front shock and a screwdriver to access the top of it. Followed it and managed to complete the whole change with cleaning wheels etc in around 3-4 hours. Got a bit stuck when allan key split the end of one shock so need help with airgun to remove and replace the bolt.

Many thanks for the guids.

Re: How To Replace Stock Springs Front + Back

Great guide, however to remove the damper, shock... Whatever it is for the rear spring bolt, u need, or at least for my 57 plate, a star socket. An E18 it is called, popped into fiat about it and asked the mechanic as with the thousand sockets I have lying around like I imagine most going to tackle this, wasn't in my collection. Cudnt even take a propa look at the bolt as didn't trust my axel syands with my life so I hope this helps. Spot on guide though it turns a minefield into an ikea cupboard instruction sheet!
