big thanks to victor100hp for jogging my memory about this useful guide:

http://www.bmw.com/generic/com/en/fascination/bmwm/automobiles/specials/_pdf/bmwm_nordschleife.pdf

even if you can remember a fraction sure will help

should make for great reading on these cold, dark nights, final exam will be in june!!!:p

I can't make the written guides work in my head. I don't have the memory or the recall in the heat of battle to pull this information to the front of my head when I need it. Throw in the German names for each corner and I'm screwed. I find myself at the end of each lap in the car park saying stuff like 'you know that corner after the corner you had the slide at, the one with the antenna thing behind it'. Hopeless. :D

I find watching the videos of laps far more useful than the guides. Because track vids are shot from the drivers point of view, you can relate to the corners as they happen. In the guides the photos tend to be taken from the trackside, not from the drivers view which for some reason makes it very hard to picture in my head.

The guides are an interesting read but I found watching as many full lap videos in as many weather conditions as I could find was more helpful than the written guides.

Just been on nurburgring website and under events there is nothing listed from 21/6/10 to 3/7/10 does this mean the track is available for people to race round?
Are people doing both days at SpaItalia on the 19th and 20th of June?
Rob left me in charge of booking it and sorting out hotels, ferrys, etc. I'll let him sort out the Tipo. lol

i'm guessing it will be "tourist days",but they don't seem to have confirmed it yet by posting it up, like they have for december (btw: who is really going to go round that killer in the dead of winter?!)

it certainly looks like the main event races etc are up there, i'm going to wait till jan end to see what's what, might send them an email too...must send one to the spa bloke too, to remind him of us

i've emailed a 2 places in Spa and 1 at near Nurbrugring to asked about family rooms/ suites, only because it's hard to find places that will cover our needs. Once dates are comfirmed i'll be booking.

I can't wait for this. If anyone knows of a 1.4 t-jet going spare let me know, I'm sure it'll fit in the 500 :)

Bunny/Hellcat Keep us posted on the dates and where your staying etc.

Will do. I know Rob wants to arrive in Spa on the friday so we can get beers to fill the Croma boot before SpaItalia on the Saturday and Sunday.

Jai,

Do we have any idea of places to stay at Spa yet? Apartment rentals or just go for a cheapo hotel?

Assuming you're thinking Eddie's for the 'ring bit. Mmm I can hear the steaks and taste the warsteiner from here. :D

We might need more radios this time around too.

haven't looked at spa yet, but yeah cheapy cheap hotel, then def eddies at the ring, series of vln cars on a shakedown run makes a great alarm clock!:D

gonna email the spa organiser next week and start the ball rolling on a spot for the FF, and rough dets for the weekend, maybe arno, the belgian tipo bloke would know somewhere nice to stay?

just so i can get a rough idea of numbers and cars could those serious post up
so far i think:
jai+1 - one car
sarah, rob plus kids - two cars
jason - one car
chris - one car

nothing def, and anyway those coming will need to go through the site to book their tickets, this is purely to get a size of pitch for us, cheers

ok the spa people have updated their site quite a bit for the 2010 event:

https://www.spaitalia.be/index.html

alfas centenary is taking centre stage, but there is a bucket load more on offer too, of particular intrest:

Clubs
As in previous years, clubs can reserve a free space in the paddocks. Passion and friendly atmosphere are the keywords of these fabulous meetings, with the clubs always trying to outdo each other in their appearance and lively activities. - we are going to try and get a stand!!

The Grande Parade.
Enjoy unforgettable moments driving your car on the world’s most beautiful racetrack ! For a one-hour session the track will be yours ! Be sure to book as soon as possible : don’t miss your chance ! - an hour on that circuit, each day...hell yeah!!!!

First run in Ferrari.
For guaranteed strong emotions what better than discovering this beautiful racetrack in a Ferrari racing car !An unforgettable memory ! - i'm guessing this means a passenger ride, unless james is big enough to reach the pedals on a 360?

The Concours d’ Elegance
It is the tradition to reward the most beautiful, the most original and the nicest car in SpaItalia ! Troffee and champagne will greet what the jury will have retained as the most remarkable of this year - tippex is ready to dazzle:p

basic costs before april 15th:
one car with 2 people: 40euros a day, or 60euros for the weekend
grand parade - 60 euros a session, either day
first runs - 150 euros
concours - 25euros

there are other packages - one includes a free bar!!!! pit lane garages and all sorts, but if you want them it's mad bucks

I wonder if there will let a 4 year old be a passenger. Would make a great early 5th birthday present for James.
I think my brother is coming with us as a passenger as he can't afford to take his tipo.

Are most people planning on staying in Begium Friday to Monday and travel to Nurburgring on Monday? Only ask as most of the family rooms have been booked so Rob and i need to book somewhere to stay asap. I blame the alfa lot for taking all the best places to stay....lol
