Italian/Fiat specialist, Newark?

I need my cambelt doing in the near future. I have a quote from motormech which is good (circa £150) on my JTD. The problem is that motormech is an hour away and obviously that could be a problem.

Before I follow it through I am looking at local options. I am sure there is a Fiat/Italian Specialist in Newark, on a road in/out Newark that I would have gone there from Nottingham direction. Does anybody know it/have any experience with them?

I had to pick my mum up from work once and I past it so I assume she does so I will ask her to go and find out their price for it but there might be good/bad experiences with them on here?

i had my cambelt and service done by paul at motormech, and i live more than an hour away. Dropped my car off in the morning, walked across the road to the bull ring and shopped about till paul phoned me to say car was ready - easy

Which was my plan, I was assuming he could get it done in a day, it's only a JTD afterall! However, I:

1) Am not a fan of shopping that much
2) Would need it doing on a weekend and if he works saturday then I guess he is busy on saturday.
3) Worry that if something goes wrong I will end up having my car left an hour away in Birmingham.

I forgot to ask my mum to get the name today, grr! I don't even know if she goes past it. I don't know why but the name Morgans is in my head.

do it yourself, you save money and get the satisfaction, and like everything in life you'll kick yourself once you realise how easy it is.

if you're really scared of spanners any local garage will be able to do it. many people on FF seem to think there's some magical reason why fiats require specialists to do a belt change. thats false, even a twinspark alfa can be done by anyone who knows their arse from their elbow so dont worry about it, anywhere can do it. use a gates belt.

Have helped do both a 999cc 8v and a 1242cc 16v but the JTD is worth too much to me and not worth the hassle of mistakes, plus no Haynes manual for the JTD brava/o/marea to assist hence can't even make up decent locking tools etc. etc.

there's a timing belt replacement guide for a 1.9JTD in the mk2 fiat bravo/a manual (manuals available at http://www.babarmalik.com/ledmods.htm), but i know what you mean about the risk/hassle aspect. i wouldnt dare skim my own walls, but i've got a mate who thinks its a piece of cake and cant believe i would rather pay someone. thats life!

Link doesn't work for me but I am pretty sure it's the same as the CD I have, which refers to Fiat tools throughout I also got the guide from Sealey tools but it would cost me £100 nearly for the set and without specs on the tools I can't make them up myself so bit of a sticking point. It's not like JTD engines are 10 a penny hence the risk aspect.
