I've bought Fiats and had then serviced at Huttons about every other service as only the dealers seem to have the specialist tools , eg to get at the tappets, and diagnostic equipment. Latest saga at https://www.fiatforum.com/marea-technical/120705-marea-weekend-sx-110-jtd-black-smoke.html. Overall I'd rate their service department as helpful, if not terribly competent. They're generally pretty good on basic servicing but you do have to book well in advance. And they're pretty isolated so a courtesy car is essential and they now charge for these at £9/day (unless, as recently, they've cocked up, in which case they let you have a free one). They were certainly fair with their refund over my recent problem.

Oh, just a postcript to my black smoke saga. Got home yesterday from a long weekend away (when the car ran superbly) to find I'd got a Gatso speeding ticket (41 in a 30 limit) from when I took the car for that quick blast down the road to clear the system after taping up the split hose. It's a local camera, but I was looking in the mirror concentrating on the exhaust emissions and forgot about it! So I've now lost £60 of my refund and got 3 points to boot. BUGGER!

Hi just thought would add my thoughts to this as well, I have only had to use Huttons once when the engine fault light came on and i lost all my power.

Get the car booked in and the put their comp on and it tell them that the Egr valve is stuck open and the turbo isnt boosting and so they said they would order the part and so i booked in for a saterday morning.

Job was done while i waited and done well, However what annoyed me was i had to pay for the ruddy part before they would order it.

Overall not bad for my first experiance but it is well over due for a 80,000 mile or whatever service and am wondering where to take it.

Foray group are good as a whole, i aways used the rapid fit guys in taunton for all my work and suspect they will be doing the work on my stilo when it needs doing.

Anyone got any recommendations for other garages in the taunton area. I know there is a dealer in Exeter are they any good.

I'd stay clear of the Bridgwater dealer - they dont seem to have any idea what they're on about, and one guy had never heard of a Stilo!

Exeter's dealer is ok - seem competant enough, but I take my car to K&R Auto's on Cook Lane (next to Kings Renault) and they are a diesel specialist and have always looked after me well.....

oh just a thought, for those who use huttons or the new bridgwater fiat garage for parts etc, there's an alfa dealer in cannington, which should be able to supply fiat parts. if anyone has any experience with them let us know how you get on, got relatives down that way, be good to have another excuse to visit.

(y)I've used all three. Bought first car from fiat Bridgwater, but now they are Ford only again, as the fiat sales werent enough. Yes they didnt seem to know a great deal, but they were very new to fiat parts and their system so i'll let them off that one, they always found me what i wanted.

Huttons are again alright, haven't had a issue yet.

I bought my sporting from the Alfa Garage, and they are great. Although a old fashioned garage again they get the job done, real nice people couldnt reccommend them enough. (y)
