Not all Fiat dealers/garages are bad,unfair to class them all as such.
Ok you have been to a few bad ones well try another there are plenty about & like I have said many times 'ask to speak to a technician' (not the reception/guys in suits) & ask the tech to explain what they have done/found!
For your info Audi charged £90 to fill gearbox with oil It's all about finding a good honest dealer & sticking to them.....thats the hard bit!

p.s.What was wrong with the service out of interest?

can any one recommend a good dealer in Birmingham.

Bought it from a nissan dealership 2nd hand so not sure where to take it for a service which is nearly due

Birmingham is a bit short on Fiat dealers, but try Carstins (I think that is what they are called) in Balsall common. They are an Izusu/ Subaru franchise but are also Fiat specialists. Worth a try

Avoid AMC in Chelmsford like the plague. So far they have been worse than rubbish.

Reading all these comments I don't think there is a good Fiat dealer in GB.
My local dealer in Macclesfield were always willing to do work, but 10 days to get a radiator from Italy for a Doblo is a bit much. The curtesy car was OK but why is there a £500 excess for an accident.
If I buy a new car I want it on the move not in a garage awaiting repair.
If you buy a brand new Fiat you don't have to go to Fiat for servicing etc.

Gainmanor fiat seem to be very good, as i ordered a set of panda mats which cost £29, and because they arrived 4 days late i was refunded £5, BRILL

10 days aint bad for a radiator from Italy,I have known a waiting period of several months for parts,not Fiat by the way!.
Your quite right in that you dont have to go to Fiat for service etc... however I'd rather my car went to technicians who are specifically trained on my car,have the correct diagnostic equipment and back up,plus most non-fiat dealers who cant fix problems take it to a Fiat dealer anyway & add abit extra on for themselves! You pay your money so you take your choice.

First time ive had to service my own car but i would have though spark plugs and oil filter/ oil etc would be included in the service price ??

How does this price compare to other companies and local nationwide autocentre who with a csma discount do £98 for a full service combined with aMOT. Would this include parts listed above - or I have got it totally wring and the service prices advertised by garages only id for labour ?

If your in Cambridge your not that far from Royston Herts I can recommend an Alfa/Fiat specialist there called Jamie Porter ltd at the workshop in Orchard road.

Wow, a lot has happened since that post bennyboy! In the time since I posted that, I've been to DBS Desira to get my car fixed (In Bury St Edmunds) Fell in love with a Panda they lent me whilst they carried out the work. So I ended up trading my Punto in for a Panda Eleganza! And a far better car it is than the Punto. I would also recommend DBS Desira to anyone looking for a good Fiat dealership in East Anglia, top notch blokes And thanks to Ems for the original tip-off about them

I would strongle avoid FISH Brothers in wiltshire.

They do not care, service is shocking. :bang:

Getting them to respond to an e-mail inquiry is a bit challenging though. I am still waiting some 6-weeks later. However, they do have an excellent reputation!

Like specs, I would recommend DBS Desira, but I have used the branch in Hertford. The odd problem, but I find them pretty good to be honest

A problem which my car has been going to Fiat Derby with for about 18 months and still not been fixed was fixed with a three day visit to JCS at Kegworth.
Another problem whichhas been going on at the same time for about 12 months and which Fiat Derby has apparently thrown all sorts of replacement parts at and still don't know what causes it was diagnosed at JCS Kegworth in 1 hour. Just waiting for replacement air con compressor.

Fiat Derby - 10 out of 100 (because one of thier techs will always explain faults if you can catch him)
JCS Kegworth - FULL marks

Up here in the North of Scotland we used to use Dicksons of Forres, where I got my Uno. They were always great, very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately, they changed franchises and now do Nissan & Kia. So Arnold Clark in Elgin took over the Fiat side. And what a complete waste of space they are! I always had trouble trying to get the bits for my Uno from them, when the parts dept could be bothered to open! and invariably got duff info or the wrong parts. So I spoke to Dicksons again and they managed to get the parts for me anyway as I wasn't the first to complain about these wasters!
Then this month I decided to go and see about getting a new Panda. So I thought, maybe their sales division is better....wrong! No offer of a test drive, no real assistance in trying to find the car I wanted, so I went away rather annoyed! I rang our next nearest dealer, Donald Mackenzie in Inverness (who I had used for spares in the past, and were great) and they couldn't be more helpful. I popped through, was offered a test drive straight away and they then managed to source the model I wanted within 3 weeks. And I am now the proud owner of a blue '05 plate MultiJet. They are brilliant, and especial thanks to Richard Stebbens whom I dealt with.

Arnold Clark should be ashamed of themselves, and by the looks of some of the posts, it's not just their Elgin branch!
