Anyone got any advice on this?

I need to get a couple of things checked out on my '03 Stilo Abarth (unfortunately out of warrenty now:( ), but I'm wary of taking it to Arnold Clarks in Gorgie...I've looked in the Yellow Pages and there's a garage called "Fiat Specialists" in East Claremont Street.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of Fiat places in Edinburgh.

fraid i dont have any experience.ive been in and chatted to the head mechanic @ arnold gorgie(i live 2 minutes down the road)and he seemed a decent guy.

Hi there, this is my first post - thought I'd contribute for a change!

We used the Gorgie Arnold Clarke a couple of times. I've used worse garages but the quality of the work was poor - they lost the undertray from our Stilo and screwed the fuel filter on too tightly causeing it to break 2 days later resulting in a long tow home :(
Both issues were resolved FOC and the customer service wasn't bad at all but I just don't trust the fitters/mechanics. Prices wern't too bad either.

Now use a independant Fiat dealer in Peebles called the South Park garage, quite a small place but they've gone out their way too help us and are cheaper than the city garages, it also gives me an excuse for a bike ride at Glentress when I drop the car down there.

Oh dear...did they tell you they lost the undertray...how do you lose something that big:confused: I have came across the fuel filter issue a few times, not on fiats I may add though.
At least you have found yourself a garage you can trust, but give benefit of the doubt not all techs are bad there...I always stress to speak to mechanic that will be working on the car if possible;)
Good luck on the pushbike...your a braver man than me:)

a friend has used the fiat specialist ur talking about and said they were quite helpful and did a good job, cant remember what she had done tho

Welcome tomcrow99!

I noticed the garage in Peebles in the yellow pages I think, it'd actually be fairly handy for me as really I live nearer Penicuik than Edinburgh, getting to Peebles is pretty easy. Also got some family there, so I've somewhere to get a cuppa while work's getting done!

On another note, www.blackcircles.com is based in Peebles, probably the best resource for tyres. I'll soon be using them to get a new pair of Eagle F1s for the back.

Anyway, the Stilo went in to Arnolds on monday...see my post in the Stilo section for more detail.

All I can say is that if I can't do the work myself, I'll not be getting them to do it either.

Might take a wander in to the Fiat Specialists sometime, just to poke my nose in and see what they're like. I'll let you know my findings!

Theres a fiat dealership down the east coast from edinburgh in elphinstone too. I went along to the gorgie fiat dealer today (arnold clark) and they wanted £50 plus tax for a back quarter nearside window

Any of you guys able to do one cheaper for me? or if not, do you know any garages around edinburgh that can offer me one for less? I was thinking of going over to newbridge for one but its a glued in window and is likely to shatter if I try to prise it out

What was the outcome of the Fiat specialists in East Claremont Street? Any good? I'd like to be able to go to the one recommended in Peebles, are they open on Saturdays?

I've just had my 2nd year service doen at Fiat Specialists.

Fiat Stilo MW 1.9JTD Jan 2005, 15,000 miles.

I rung Arnold's for a quote said about £225 as they could do a low milage 2nd service. Rung Fiat specialists quoted £117.

Took car down, bit of a nightmare for public transport back, but hey it was going to be cheaper.

Collected car later £109. Problem with their computer thingie, says to drop by another time and they'll reset the service due reminder. They have a chap comes in everyweek to look at the computer thing.

whatever they use to reset the Stilo's dash to stop the service due warning wasn't working right. Worked with all other stilo's but wouldn't on mine.

So they said for me to take my Stilo back in to them in a few days and they will hopefully be able to reset it then. By which time they techie bloke for their computer will have been in and they will have told him they had a problem with a stilo.

Make more sense?
