I HATE YOU ALL KIWK-FIT'S, YOU'RE ALL RUBBISH!

When I arrived at work yesterday I got a nail in my OSF Tyre in the carpark, I put the spare on last night when I finshed work (2300) then drove home.

This morning I wake up early to go to Kwik-fit to get it repaired. The nearest KwikFit to me is 20 seconds driving time.

I arrived there at 0950, on Sundays they open at 1000 I waited and saw 2 employees go in the building at 1000, another strolled up at 1005 with a bag of bagels.

I waited thinking they just arrived so I'll give them 10 minutes......

20 minuets passed......
30 minuets passed......

at 1035 they opened an hour late all with cups of coffee in their hands. I was then told by the guy with the bagels:

"What you here for?"

"I need a tyre repaired"

"sorry my friend tyre machine no working cant fix tyre today"

"but I've been sitting here for ages and you saw my red spare wheel on you could have told me"

"Sorry my friend we meant to open 10 o'clock but I try fixing tyre machine when I switch on machine it no work so I try fix it but I no fix it so can't fix any tyre today sorry my friend, there is another tyre shop half mile up the road"

"ok safe"

I begin my drive to the next tyre shop which is a Grays, unfortunately for them they employed some next illegal immigrants who try to rip off your skirts when they need to jack up your car so I didn't even bother slowing down for them. I continued my drive to the next Kwik-Fit which was about 2 - 3 miles away.

I get there and I am told to park in a bay, I do so then proceed to take the broken tyre out the boot along with wheel locking nuts and Allen Keys ect, I am told the tire cannot be repaired, I had a feeling this was the case because of where the nail went in so I asked what good tyres can you hook me up with?

Guy says:

"come with me I show you what tyres we got.... we got pirrellis very good brand, two will cost you £160"

" What!?"

"That includes balancing and tracking"

"I don't want tracking and your tracking isn't good anyway"

then he leans in close and says quietly to me:

"Don't worry boss... I'll give you deal"

He bashs some buttons on the calculator and says:

"£121"

"why so much?" I say.

"Tyres are £70 each" he says

"But they are only 15 inches and not even low profile, I can get 2 tyres for £80 10 seconds from here" I say (good thing about London, lots of competition :p )

"I don't make the prices"

"I know that but I'm not paying that much for tyres I don't really want, haven't you got any UniRoyals, they are only £40 each and are the best"

"no boss we don't got I ask manager what he can do"

Goes away and comes back:

"Manager says £108 cheapest"

"Don't worry I'll take it 10 seconds away"

I went the Northway Tyres in Collindale, I got two tyres fitted and balanced for £101 without having to speech anything and would have got it even cheaper if circumstances were "different", the staff were friendly and showed plenty of emotion to eachother, they even opened on time and were working hard with blatent hangovers from the night before.

Never again shall I go Kwik-Fit!

there's a cracking tyre place near me, they can have your wheels fitted and balanced in 40mins. great prices too.(guy's got a punto, always a plus)

Re: Today morning boss...

Kwikfit always take the p*ss.

Just before i put my stilo up for sale i wanted a standard exhuast put back on it, because i thought the one i had was too loud and put people off it. Went to kwikfit because they had their half price tyres and exhuast sign up. So i thought id ask how much......Went in explained what i wanted and guy said "Oh thats a too new of car for a after market exhuast, we'll have to order it from Fiat. That'll be about £140 and because we gotta order it from Fiat we wont do it half price" Sodd that i thought and walked out.

Went to the garage that fitted my stainless steel exhuast and said i was selling the car and need a standard one back on and they did it for £80!

Re: Today morning boss...

Near where i live there is a family run business called 'Tyne Tyres' and you are always guaranteed a fantastic service and good prices (my 4 remoulds were £56 fully fitted) (y)

Re: Today morning boss...

northway? is that the one just of j2 M1?

i prefer hendon tyres myself, did a fast job on the paj

and central in watford were great for the panda, booked through black circles, cheers whoever posted up the recommendation a few weeks ago

the last time i went to kwikfit for my own car, they refused to work on the tub because the calipers were painted...not standard mate....

You couldn't make this stuff up!

I wouldn't trust them with the Tipo.. They'd likely snap a sideskirt or jack up on the body floor or exhaust.

I wouldn't go to kwik fit anyway. My Tyres for the tyres (195/50R15 Potenza - £35) and Romax (Fitted and balanced £5). I'll drive around on the spare rather than go to kwik fit.
I couldn't, I was using the alloy wheel bolts not the steel wheel bolts. They can bend if you brake too hard and because they are longer I couldn't put them all the way in or it jams the drive shaft (did this once and bent the bolts) so the bolts were loose.

ma bad :p
I can't believe Kwik fit have the money to advertise on TV, then again with all the over charging and the fact that they can afford to open over half an hour late they must be raking it in.

Re: Today morning boss...

Ive never used Kwik twit thankfully(y) . I always use National tyres and found em really good as they match any local quote im given:D , the lads there once fitted the steering rack(i supplied) on an escort for me for £20 while it was up on the ramps:slayer: . Puncture repairs cost me a drink:slayer: ! But i dont care how cheap people get remoulds for, ive had a serious accident due to remoulds and i wouldnt use em even if they were free now:eek: :yuck: .

Because they have the 'motability' contracts.....therefore you are paying them indirectly through your taxes!

What is a Remould?

when a tyre gets low on tread the top layer or something can be removed and a new teead layer kinda stuck on. used to be very popular is past due to cheapness today its is not done much as cheap new tyres are more availble.

it is possible for a remould to delaminate and the tread start to peal off characterised by a thump/slap sound as it peals off and slaps tarmac. this would nomrally only happen at speed were heat effects it, but remoulds are not ment for speed and are perfectly safe for slower cars.

Kinda right:p , youve just described a re-tread,a re-mould is when the whole tyre casing is done(y) My remoulds were guaranteed upto 130mph and one blew at 80mph, luckily it was on the back or i wouldnt be here now(n)
